Venice - say it isn't so... stalking while at work!

*** Grin***

Been there!

heh. I work at a call center... and there's about 30 min between calls at the moment. And when I work in this office on the weekends, there's no sound from the computer so I can't even watch tv online! just... you know, don't mention it to my supervisors.

Excellent! I've been looking for a reason to craft something during the long bus-ride home and over Christmas.

I found rules for a quick version of monopoly ( i forget how it goes now...) but I included it in the rules so I wouldn't be stuck in that very situation.

yelsew27: Yep, I primed the board, drew it on and then painted it and varnished it a bunch of times. I had actually hand-drawn the logos on there too but didn't like the way they looked so I cheated and printed them out and varnished over them.

skankamaggot : Thanks! Yeah, I actually saw that but I could only find them on sale on ebay from the UK and wasn't so excited to pay that much money for it. That and I'm super impatient so when I get an Idea in my head I want it to happen at that moment. I pretty much woke up, decideed I would do it, and went to get the board a couple hours later.

All in all, it actually probably cost me the same as a custom game would cost from a store. The monopoly game itself was only $11.00, of which I used a lot of its original properties, but I also ended up buying, game pieces (charms from etsy), primer, sharpies, card stock, an exacto knife etc. I also bought things that I didn't end up using, but I'm sure i'll find a use for later.
It probably cost me around 40.00 in the long run, but it was spaced out over paychecks and totally worth it.

I also had to buy a new printer, but that's a whole other story haha.

50  TOYS, DOLLS AND PLAYTHINGS / Toys, Dolls and Playthings: Completed Projects / Metalopoly, the Metalocalypse Board Game!! on: November 22, 2008 01:19:43 PM
This is a project I had been thinking about doing for awhile and finally decided to make it for my boyfriend for Christmas.

METALOPOLY

I went out and bought a monopoly game, primer, labels, and card stock. This was the result after plenty of hours at work. The logo on the box was designed in photoshop and then free-handed on the box which was then painted black and varnished several times for the glossy look.
The pieces are replaced with a clock (dethklok), a bat, a skull, a 1" spike, and I kept the horse (thunderhorse) and the money bag from the original game.

Better view of the board

Instead of Community Chest, there is the Band Fund. Cards say things like, "Van broke down, pay $200", or "Happy dethday, birthdayface. Pay dr Rockso"
The chance cards still exist and say things like "Tour bus left without you, take a walk on the boardwalk."

The title deed cards were a hassle. Sorry I don't have a better picture but I cut out tiny pieces of labels and covered over the words "houses" and "hotels." In Metalopoly, instead of renting, buying, and selling houses or hotels, you Rent, Book, and Play Bars and Arenas.

We've been together about a year and a half, and he's always been a fan of metalocalypse. I don't even know if he likes the game monopoly, but I think this will be cool to have around.
