1  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / Re: Knitting Lingerie books on: June 29, 2008 05:30:55 PM
Wanted to mention that while I haven't tried any of it yet (hey, I'm still on scarves and hats and stuff that's easy) I have heard many people on the Bust Line group on Ravelry suggest getting Big Girl Knits and use the modification advice on just about anything.

As a 36G, I can pretty much state that I plan to make several patterns out of Naughty Needles and don't expect to have to do much modifying.  I'm especially looking forward to "Felt Up", the corset.  Have the yarn an' everything.

Here's my ugly-bottom Feb square.  I'm not sure I'll do any more.  I just don't like how it turned out.  Maybe I'll give it one more try using the changes posted somewhere in the last several pages and see how it goes.

And I just decided to change the 9 square baby blanket I'm going to work on - instead of doing 9 dreamcatchers, I think I'll do 5 dreamcatchers and 4 supernovas.  I'll let you know how it turns out!

See?  Really ugly.  And not the colors - I like the colors.  They're my version of a two color black square, since I'm doing one of each month in black.  Corners are wonky, hearts are uneven, the whole thing's just UGLY.

Le GASP!!!

I have to make this.  Even though I did the monkey one for my sister and hated the seaming, I MUST MAKE THIS.  I have some friends I could make it for, but mostly I want one for me!!!  Maybe I'll make giganto squares or just the frog heads and stitch them onto a different blanket.  Ooooooo...

Laurier, I've been crocheting for about 5 months.  It's not too difficult for you, I promise!  I thought it might be, but once I got going it turned out to be pretty easy.  Seaming them together was the worst part, and that was cause it was tedious.

I finished my first Feb square!  Next up is my last Jan square and two more Feb squares.  And possibly 9 more Jan squares if I can find the time - those will be for a baby blanket the Charity in Stitches group at my LYS will donate for a community baby shower early next month.  I said I'd make the squares as long as I didn't have to seam!!!  Smiley

Thanks, everyone!  Notali, it's from Happy Hooker.

I did want to mention that the GIGANTIC picot things kinda scared me, as I know it would make me nervous to have my kids chewing on them, so I modified a bit and spaced out some smaller picots.  The spacing isn't perfectly equal because I didn't count the edge before I did the modification, but who's gonna notice that?  On second thought, I think the spots where the gap had to be shortened stand out quite a bit in the picture.  Oh well.

None of the monkey heads are the same size, and I really did NOT enjoy making them.  The instructions were a bit evil, and I don't like fastening off between each color, even though it ended up being totally necessary.

Finally, I thought that this pattern was AWESOME because it included both a boyish and a girly version of the hat.  This means I could make one of each for my sister since she's having one of each.  Way cool!

I finally finished this set last night for my sister, who's having twins March 4th (unless she goes into labor before the scheduled c-section...)

I'm in love with it and hate to send it, but it's so perfect for her considering she just spent almost $100 on a diaper bag with sock monkeys on it.  Before you choke to death on the price, know that it was custom made, very sturdy, and big enough to carry enough stuff for twins and a spoiled rotten toddler without looking so big it's frumpy.  Anyhow, back to the point - she'll get it when my mom goes down to help out for four months on Wednesday.

Hope you like!

I'm almost done with my first square of this month!

Last night, I finally finished my project that's taken me longer than I wanted to do, but it's DONE and ready to get stuffed into my mom's luggage for her trip to see my sister for four months.

I'm actually liking my square so far - there's 1 row left to do after dinner (CRAP, I better get started on that!) and I can do that with plenty of time left for homework and a little relaxation with the hubby.  Today is probably the best Monday I've had all term!!!

Wow, Laurier - how did the surgery go?  I hope you'll be back in the ranks soon!!!

I've almost finished the project with the Wednesday deadline - anyone want to weave in ends for me??  Sad

I think I'll start the February square this evening after some homework.  FINALLY!

Uh-oh... I'm feeling the beginnings of getting behind.  I'm not done with my sister's baby(s) present yet and I need it to be done by next Tuesday... and only once I've finished that can I start on this month (and do my last one for last month)... crap!!!

At least today I'll have a few hours to work on sewing the durn squares together for her present... maybe I'll even get help from the ladies at the LYS.
