I know this isn't really crafty, but I really need some suggestions for these rooms. I'm open to anything: accent walls, chair rails, circles, whatever!
Room one: My youngest son's room. The colors are white, mint green, and brown. Great for a baby room, but he's turning into a toddler. I want a color that can grow up with him, but still be used for the baby room because when we have another in a couple years, Liam and the baby will have to share this room.
Curtains are light blue, and the white has faded red, blue, yellow, and green dots on it.
Room two: The boys' bathroom. I think the colors speak for themselves.
Room three:Master bedroom. The colors in here are black, white, and gray. We want to put up some more black and white movie posters/ pictures on the walls-- all the art in our room is black and white. As a side note, I want to repaint the dressers in our room, but can't chose between the three colors. Any thoughts there would be appreciated. (sorry about the blurry pictures. my battery was dying so i was in a hurry) Our curtains are gray with white dots, and the valences are black.

I made his costume myself (and by made, I mean I put him in his brown pants, with his older brother's under shirt, and a cut out vest!). His hat was a cheap one from Micheal's that I turned into a tricorner hat. Love it! I also fancied up his older brother's wooden dagger for the little one.
I'm so excited to be going to the Renaissance Festival for the second time ever! Last year was my first, and I made a quick, simple costume. It was totally lame, especially the top part, because I just used a long sleeved white shirt and a black tank top.
This year I made my entire costume (almost) from scratch.
The skirt I reused from last year. I bought it from a local thrift store and added the white panel last year. This year I added elastic to the waist so it would stop falling down (very irritating last year). Other than that it's the same.
The shirt I made from this pattern here: http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=118928.0#axzz2PE5iOEOf Naturally, my fabric was too short, so instead of long flowy sleeves I have shorter ones, and I have to wear a tank top underneath as a just in case. Other than that, though, I think it turned out fine.
The apron was from this tutorial: http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=417397.0#axzz2Ohhf655g. I didn't alter this at all, but the shoulder straps ended up being too short so instead of crossing over the back they just tie behind my neck. I also added some hand embroidery to the front-- I'm a total newb at embroidery ... I was trying to do a circle, and ended up with an oval so I made it a leaf
The drawstring bag was from this: http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=346390.0#axzz2P8LD0AmZ. I made it way bigger so it could hold all the important things like chapstick and money for the festival. My camera and my phone are going in the pockets of the apron. I used twine from my horses' hay bales for the tie.. I might paws and use the extra leather from the corset.
Last is the corset. I had a lot of trouble with this, but I really like how it turned out. I made it waaay to short around on the first go, and had to add extra fabric. Then I had to angle and hem it so that it would tie at the top and at the bottom. I hand sewed all the button holes, 12 in total.

I'll be updating this after the festival with my son's costume and the covered wagon I'm taking him in, as well as my dogs in costume (they're just going as fairies, nothing fancy since they have such long, beautiful fur).
Here it is! I made a few adjustments-- instead of bustling the fabric at the bottom of the front I made a pleat, and the back straps weren't long enough for me to sew them to the back, so I just tied them behind my neck. I might try to work it out later, but baby woke up just as I got done!
I also haven't added the pockets yet, I'm thinking of making them white. Any thoughts on that? Would it be appropriate for the costume, or should I leave them blue as well?

Last year I went to our local RenFest for the first time. My son was only a month old, so I toted him around in his sling, and didn't have to worry about a costume. However, this year he'll be a little more mobile, so I need to come up with a costume for him!
I'd also like some tips for how to improve my own costume, but on a frugal mom's budget. Any tips are great, but remember that he is only 1, and won't take to a lot of frills like his big brother.
My son is only 7 months old, but there's no way I could let one of my favorite holidays slip by the wayside just because he isn't old enough to walk, let alone trick or treat! And seeing as how he's a baby and can't pick out his costume, we went as Rarity and Spike from My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic!!
I was Rarity, of course. I bought a white dress on sale and matched it with some aqua colored heels I had in the closet (in the picture I had switched to flats-- my feet were dying!). Instead of trying to pin a cutie mark in the appropriate place, I made a necklace out of seed beads and wire. I glued them with a layer of mogpog so I could write the details on with a sharpie.
For my son's costume I purchased a girl's purple jacket (Who knew there weren't any purple jackets for boys?) and stitched on the spikes, ear flaps, and belly scales. Underneath is a white onesie that says "Rarity" with a few hearts around it. He wore those with just a pair of jeans and some lime green socks.
The dog in the bottom right corner is my Sheltie, Ruby. She was dressed up as Rainbow Dash, but by the time we took this picture she had decided it had to go. This is the only one I have of her in the full costume-- I found out at the last minute about a dog party at the park, so I whipped this up with some left over felt from a previous project and glued some feathers to a barrette for her "mane".
I also dyed my hair purple especially for this costume-- I've always wanted to do it but I was scared it would turn out SUPER purple and I'd hate it, but it turned out lovely. My hair is usually light brown, and this is a huge change for me. I love it!! I made the horn and ears out of felt and just clipped them in after curling my hair.
I already have plans for next Halloween for this little bugger. Thanks for looking!
There are a lot of 3D plush ponies out there, but I'm just not that talented. I can, however, cut out two pieces of fabric and make a pillow. So I just expanded on that. This is my very first MLP inspired plush. I don't even know if you'd call it a plush, but whatever. She's approx. 10 inches high. All the horrible mistakes aside (I didn't leave NEARLY enough room to sew when I cut out my pattern... and her mane and tail are a lot thinner than I wanted), I'm fairly pleased with the first run through. The final products of the "mane" six will just have their cutie marks hand embroidered on. Very simple design, but that's what I'm going for with these. Anyway, don't be too harsh.
Her name is Pin Cushion because that's what she is now
UPDATE: Here's my first attempt at Rarity. I've decided I'm going to paint on the cutie marks and eyes instead of trying to hand sew them on. I wasn't even going to do eyes, but I figure as long as I have the paint I might.
UPDATE AGAIN: Finished Applejack. I painted on her cutie mark.
Then I decided I would try my hand at the eyes.
I like it!
MORE UPDATE: Gave Rarity eyes as well, and removed the stitched cutie mark and replaced it with paint.
A good friend of mine and I are going to be selling our crafty wares at our first craft show! (Well, I've done them before, but I was selling pony rides instead of crafts). I know that there are a few threads about how to display some of these items, but I'm going to post the list of our things so that you guys who are veteran craft fair attenders can give me some advice on how to best display everything. I'm going to invest in a lattice board for some of the bigger hanging items.
1) Ribbon wreaths like this one. I saw about getting the board and using cheap wreath hangers for them (And then selling the hangers to get the money back).
2) Home made chap stick
3) Personalized spiral notebooks (my friend has a Cricut) with ribbon tied on the spiral
4) Glass boxes
5) Girl's hair bows
(The following are my things) 6) Tag blankets like this one
7) Home made stuffed animals (mostly horses, and the girly ones may or may not resemble My Little Pony characters )

I found on Pinterest a link on how to make tag blankets. It looked pretty simple, and my little man is starting to be able to put things in his mouth so I figured he's enjoy it.
This is Liam's tag blanket. The solid green part is PUL, and the dot side is duck. I had the fabric and ribbons left over from past projects so it cost me nothing. Sorry for the blurry pics. He moves so much!

So I got to looking at the blanket and thought to myself "That was easy to make, and it turned out awesome.Here are my first three.
These two have flannel and PUL.
And this one is duck and PUL.
Then I decided that I could probably figure out how to hand sew names on them, so after a bit of practicing I came up with a few fonts. I'm working on more. They're all done with a back stitch (except for the L and I on one of them, but that was just to try to get the outline quickly for the photo).
I'm not always this proud of what I make, but I'm ridiculously proud of these. Thanks for looking!
So I hate dragging around the diaper bag when I'm just going into the store or the doctor's office (although I bring it to have in the car just in case), so I made a clutch to carry extra diapers and wipes in my purse. I'm rather proud of it.
