I just realized that my "art"journal looks more like a Junque journal! I just dont draw that much on it and tend to glue every little thing I like in it!

5  MORE ART, LESS CRAFT / More Art, Less Craft: Completed Works / abstract + doodles= ? on: July 10, 2010 11:27:51 PM

I tried to try something new for me: abstract art. I have noticed a lot of the girls in the weekly challenge do abstract art. I gave it a shot. While it was drying I doodled in my art journal, I decided to add some doodles to the canvas, resulting in this weird thing:

Thoughts?

6  HOME SWEET HOME / Crafty Housewares: Completed Projects: General / Scrap Letter on: July 10, 2010 11:22:27 PM

Hello! This is my attempt to use up some fabric scraps. Sadly, I don't have step by step pictures, which made me think about it twice before posting. But since its ridiculously easy I will give a description of how I made it. If I'm not clear in something, or everything, please ask so I can explain better and fix the tutorial. OK? Well here we go:
1- Use a wire hanger to make the letter. I found that using pliers made it more easy and detailed.
2- Wrap some batting strips all over the wire, using hot glue to secure it at the beginning and end of each strip.
3- Cover the letter with fabric strips according to the color scheme of your preference. Since the "S" I made stands for "Sofia", my baby, I kept it on the girl y pastel color scheme. Use hot glue where necessary.
4- Add ribbon, buttons, flowers or anything you like on the letter.
5- Your done!

I really hope I was clear enough, if not just leave a comment with your questions and I will happily answer!
Love,
Maria Isabel
7  MORE ART, LESS CRAFT / More Art, Less Craft: Completed Works / The Queen on: July 10, 2010 11:13:37 PM

Last week I finally got a chance to see Tim Burton's Alice in Wonderland, sure it was not what I expected, but I still enjoyed it. I was smitten with The Red Queen, she was so funny and well dressed. And who was I not to fall with that big, bulbous head. For one of the 5x7 Painting swaps from Swap-Bot I  was asked for a portrait. And this is what came to mind. The Queen. I'm thinking about making a larger version to hang over my bed. Maybe even get her a King of Spades to accompany her into eternal solitude through Underland.

Did you like Burton's version of Alice?

8  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / Hair Acessory Frame on: July 10, 2010 11:10:08 PM
Hello!!!
With a rapidly growing girl in the house you may find yourself finding little bows and hair clips everywhere. And I mean everywhere! The kitchen, the bathroom, under the bed. It gets to the point that when needed, you can't find that mint colored hair clip you need. So I decided to take action.
Hair Acessory Hanger

So, you need a frame, without glass or anything. I took a frame that broke, glued it back together and painted it a lilac color.
 Step 1

Now cut two pieces of wire that are long enough to cross horizontally the frame. I used decorative wire. Glue those pieces of wire at the back of the frame, leaving some space between them.
Step 2

Glue those pieces and add a loop on the top for hanging on the wall if the frame did not have one. Now you can hang you bows and things!
Step 3

Wasn't that easy?
