You are free to use whatever scraps you have, with whatever technique you want, as long as you craft items that have lots of different scraps in them! And that you craft according to your partner's taste!

The requirement for the swap will be ONE LARGE (or two mediums) and ONE MEDIUM (or two smalls).

Just about anything can be made 'scrappy'. Here are a few things that I'm thinking about, but I'm sure you can add more to this list!
- potholder
- mug rug
- coffee mug cozy
- place mat (fabric or paper and laminated)
- coasters
- cuff bracelet
- pouch of any kind (sunglasses, coins, phone,...)
- journal cover
- cards
- ATC
- bracelet (beads, paper beads, buttons, fabric,...)

- wall art
- picture frame
- gift tags

....

Details of swap:
--You will make one large and one medium OR one large and two smalls OR two mediums and two smalls.
A small is generally considered as something that takes under 2 hours to make; a medium something that takes 2-3 hours to make and a "large" more than 3 hours to make.
--You will have 3 and 1/2 week crafting time, from 04/23/15 - 05/18/15
--You have creative freedom to use any material, any embellishment, any technique you want, as long as what you craft is scrappy (using at least 4 different materials) and suited to your partners tastes.
-- You will need to post in this thread at least once a week so I know you are still crafting with us.

*PLEASE READ!*
- No one like to be flaked on, so if you aren't sure if you can do this swap, don't sign up.
- You must get delivery confirmation if sending within the U.S., or a mailing receipt if sending elsewhere.

3  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / New Swap Theme Ideas / Scrap Happy Swap on: April 08, 2015 12:52:05 AM
Anyone up for a "Scrap Happy Swap"? Last time it was all about sewing, but it could be crochet, knitting or paper too. As long as it is done with scraps, it is okay!

Think about: scarfs (sewn, knitted, crocheted), pouches, bags, purses, wall art, cards, baskets, mug rugs, coasters, place mats, aprons, pillow covers, amigurumi, ATC, ...

I am willing to organize and will do my best to pair people with same preferences so you could really use up all those scraps. You'd be swapping AND de-stashing  Cheesy

Here's a link to the Scrap Happy Swap-gallery.

And here's a link to the Scrap Happy Swap-thread.

Add your ideas, time line, comments, questions, pics...  Smiley

crocheted African flowers, also made by me Smiley

cards, yeah made by me..
4  MISCELLANEOUS TOPICS / Completed Projects / Quilted beach-sea-mermaid journal cover on: April 06, 2015 07:33:11 AM
Hi all!

I joined a journal cover swap, organized by LimeRiot. Paired with my fabulous Craftster-friend CraftyMamaBee, the idea of a mermaid popped in my head and I couldn't let it go  Cheesy

I decided to quilt a beach scene with a mermaid tail in the waves. Here's the end result:

I sewed blue strips for the sea and cream-white for sand. The mermaid tail is sewed and only attached at the bottom and the top, to create the idea of movement (pff hope that makes sense haha).
I used real, small shells of our beach (I live nearby the dunes, beach and sea  Smiley ) but also buttons.

At the backside I sewed on a seagull and a little feather of one of our lovebirds. Oh and a small, green paper bead I made myself.

I sewed a ribbon in the inside to use as bookmark and sewed on a label that fits a pen.

I had lots and lots of fun sewing, adding things and just following my heart.  Cheesy

Thanks for reading!

5  CROCHET / Crochet: Completed Projects / More crochet projects!! on: November 06, 2014 02:28:54 AM
Hi all!

The other day I posted some of the crochet projects I made last few months. These are some more!

I decided I wanted a poncho and used free pattern from Drops. I also used the yarn they suggested. Not so easy to work with, loosely twisted threads  Undecided but after some time I got the hang of it.

Here it is:

Here's an in-progress-pic:

After the granny squares, you crochet granny stripes. Very easy pattern but I love the look of it so much!

My son wanted a new hat and even though it isn't cold at all, he wears it all day long:

Not the best pic, but he was being silly! I used two strands of different yarn to get the thickness I wanted. One row black and red and the other row white and blue. I added eyes and two ears. He loves it!

And last but not least, a crocheted cactus. A little gift for the birthday of a co-student. She loved it!

It was so much fun to make! A week after I made that, I bought a crochet magazine and saw three different cactus patterns in it!  Shocked Ha! I'm trendy and didn't know I was  Wink The pattern of this one is made by me, nothing fancy.

Thanks for looking! Glad I posted some of the finished stuff again  Cool
6  CROCHET / Crochet: Completed Projects / Crocheted stuff... on: October 09, 2014 11:01:18 AM
Hi all!

I refound my love for crochet and can't stop  Smiley So here are a few of my projects.

African flowers, these were for Calabaza in the IYP swap. So fun to make, quick and relaxing.

This was made with the puff stitch. I fell in love with the looks and had to learn it! It isn't difficult, but it took a few to get it more even. I am pretty proud of this! I did have a pattern, but that didn't work for me so I went with what looked good. It is lined and handsewn onto the purse frame.
Also for Calabaza for the IYP swap.

I received such a cute little jar with cozy like this one as a thank you-gift and had to try and make one myself. I used a large glass jar and tried a pattern I liked. Simply single and double crochet, nothing fancy. I really like it! Romantic with a large candle...  Smiley

Thanks for looking!  Cheesy (c&c is always welcome!)

8  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General / Ipad mini case for my lil sis :-) on: May 01, 2014 07:00:17 AM
Hi all!

This challenge came at the right time!
I love Pinterest, but like so many of you I spend more time pinning than crafting  Tongue

My little sister is very special to me and she deserved some crafting love!
I actually had this tutorial of an ipad mini case pinned, but since I'm no good at following directions (only dead fish follow the stream  Grin ) so I only used it as inspiration!

On to the pictures:

The front.

Front with Ipad (and Craftster running of course Wink )

The inside of the zippered pocket. My nametag inside.

A detail shot, hard to see but I added a few small beads to the centre of the flowers.

Of course I had several issues to deal with, but I'm happy with the result!
And so is my sister!

How about that for a happy ending  Wink

10  OCCASIONS AND HOLIDAYS / Valentine's Day / A heart box with... hearts!! on: January 12, 2014 07:56:47 AM
Hi all!

I had to share this with you! I didn't make this for Valentine's Day, but my partner needed a pick me up!

I bought a heart shaped box, and just decorated it.
No picture of the box before decorating, so here it is after:

And here is a pic of the inside of the box:

It is in Dutch, but you get the idea! I browsed the internet, looking for sayings and so about love.  A few of them:

  • A live without love, is like a landscape without sun.
  • Love is not for sale, but nevertheless the most valuable thing!
  • Love is a verb.

I glued them on the inside.

But there's more:

I made a few hearts: a felt stuffed heart, a golden heart (of plastic) and a key with a little heart-> you hold the key to my heart.

And more paper hearts:

Again, Dutch so, some translations:
  • love is the most difficult jig saw excisting, but still it only contains 2 pieces.
    You make my heart smile.
  • Choosing from the heart, gives you energy.
Some of the hearts are with a little drawing, those were from "Love is.."
  • Love is, making fun!
  • Love is, relaxing together!

Okay, so you wonder why I made so many hearts??

I will show you:

Maybe you noticed the little cloth spin on top? You can attach a heart to it! So you can choose a heart out of the box and then attacht it to the front!

My partner really appreciated this gift. And yes, he changes the heart on top regularly!  Cheesy

I hope it inspires you for Valentine's Day or to let your partner know you love him or her!!

Some of my translations might not be completely right, sorry for that!!
