This makes my goldfish shower curtain (which I had been quite taken with!) look like a, well, a cruddy shower curtain!!

Awesome idea brilliantly executed... what kind of thing do you have in your main bathroom if this one is just for guests?!!

No, I work(ed) in a big book store & as it's xmas they get in all sorts of things to hang around the cash registers for people to buy impulsively for stocking stuffers etc...

They just arrived one day, the ones they have at work are keychains too.

Awww spanks! *blush*

I like Wonky the most too, and he's by far the, er, wonkiest lol.

I am not great at sewing & as soon as I have to measure or pin something it all starts to seem too hard but the sock animals & the instructions in the book are stoopidly easy to do... probably takes me longer as I haven't done anything handsewn before but someone with even a thimble full of experience could whip them up in no time.

As for the gloves well.... my first obstacle was finding gloves in the first place as it's summer here, I finally did find some plain cotton ones at Woolworths & attempted to make a dog... part of the charm of the glove animals in the book is that their feet aren't quite the same length but mine were really really different & looked so weird I gave up & went back to the socks!!

Just got 'Stupid Sock Creatures' in the mail yesterday & although the creatures in there look heaps more complicated I am excited about giving 'em a go.

We got these in at work, they've called them 'Lucky charms' but from the moment I saw them I thought they were more like voodoo dolls lol, but they've been crazy popular (as keychains).

Yours is cute, It would make a nice pendant me thinks?! If you could make them even more tiny they'd be cute earrings too.... lovely work.

Well!! My first proper post & I get to show you my cruddy sewing!! I bought the book 'Sock & Glove' 'cause it was just so darn cute & after my first attempt (a plain ugly sock monkey that is hiding somewhere in my bedroom, probably with a pair of scissors...  Undecided) I was still inspired to make more.

My second attempt was much cuter, if not much better sewn, that's the donkey... it's "supposed" to be a zebra but I thought 'Wonky the donkey" was much more fitting. Anywho, here is a pic of my sock animals before I posted them off as chrissy presents. They don't really look like animals from the book but it was a great help in making SOMETHING lol.

I found these clear boxes at kmart that were sooooo cheap, cheaper than cardboard gift boxes even so I got them & made some dodgy labels, easier to wrap & makes the animals more 'presenty' me thinks... Wink

99  NEWS AND DISCUSSION ABOUT CRAFTSTER / Introduce Yourself / I think I'm going to like it here...! on: December 12, 2007 02:23:53 AM
So I have been lurking for about 2 weeks, I discovered this forum after I bought a book on making sock animals (my way of getting out of spending mega bucks this christmas lol) & after some success was looking for more sock creations to make.

What a freaking awesome site! I am sooooo inspired to make so much! Anywho, this is where I am supposed to introduce myself not be all soppy about craftster so;

I am 26 & live in Sydney, OZ, & I'm expecting my first child in a matter of weeks. Maybe getting crafty is my version of nesting! I've always loved art, drawing mostly, but also love making stuff, or atleast pimping it... have covered a couple of tables with vintage mags & made some bags out of bits & pieces, I wish I could sew better & knit at all.

Op shopping (or thrift store shopping for you americans..) is in my blood as my Nanna & my Mum are op shoppers from way back, my house is full of all sorts of el cheapo treasures, I am a bit of a hoarder... you never know when you might need a broken coffee cup or an empty cassette case...

Not sure what else to say, if anything, & I've probably bored you enough already so I'll stop there, hope to make & post all sorts of goodies & get to know some of you awesome crafters out there.  Smiley
