11  Millicent; A Plush Doll in Toys, Dolls and Playthings: Completed Projects by Queen Mab on: July 29, 2009 03:26:00 AM
Hey ho Craftsters!

Just thought I'd share a couple of pics of Millicent, a doll I made for my daughter last week from my own drawing, she's felt, corduroy & I *think* curtain material!

If I were to make another (...and I do say "if!") I would make her arms & legs a smidge wider so they wouldn't be such a pain to turn, as well as make her neck a bit wider because getting those stuffed appendages through there was a challenge, but all in all I really like her, but more importantly, my daughter loves her too, she gets cuddles at every opportunity. Smiley

Thanks for looking!

13  Wall Letters for Baby's Room in Interior Decorating: Completed Projects by Queen Mab on: January 06, 2008 06:58:25 PM
I made these yesterday 'cause I am preggers, OVERDUE in fact, my house is cleaner than it has any right being & I am bored!!

Just used el cheapo little canvasas & the usual wooden letters.

They are shinier than they look in the photos as I coated them with wood glue but it's a bit dark in the nursery atm so you can't really see. Spanks for looking!

14  Vintage/Retro Mens Mag Coffee Table Spruce Up... in Crafty Housewares: Completed Projects: General by Queen Mab on: January 04, 2008 09:00:17 PM
This is the second coffee table I've prettied up with vintage mags... the first was actually a tv cabinet that I found in the garbage area of our old unit block when I lugged our own broken coffee table down there, unfortunately with our last move of house it was needed to, shock horror, hold the tv so it is hiding in the corner with the stupid idiot box covering it's kitchy glory...

So, when we needed yet another coffee table, I gots me a boring black one from ikea & stuck ye olde magazines on it, I found a stack of old mens mags from the 50s in a second hand shop when we were last on holidays... to start with I didn't think it was as good as the first one as I used glue & resin at different stages & places I missed with one was soaked with the other etc etc & came up all stained & yellow, BUT it has totally grown on me & I think that the staining adds to the vintage feel.

I luvs my coffee table!!

15  My accidental animal - *updated* MORE PICS, he has a brother!! in Toys, Dolls and Playthings: Completed Projects by Queen Mab on: December 18, 2007 09:23:56 PM
So I got bored with making sock animals while attempting a 'Stupid Sock Creature'... probably didn't help that I started with one of the more advanced ones... anyway, decided I wanted to move on to making toys without socks... that is making them out of other things, not making toys with cold feet. Wink

Anyway, being the half assed kind of person I am, I found an old book on how to make soft toys & found the easiest pattern that could use some reminant fluffy material I got for el cheap from Lindcraft yesterday... it was a crouching cat. Only thing is I didn't have the patience to trace the pattern so I just kinda winged it.... the body I ended up with was NOT that of a cat, crouching or otherwise... so I tweaked some stuff here & there & ended up with this lil fella, I really like him, whatever he is.... he's kind of half teddy bear half jelly bean... & he has weird turtle-like flipper feet... The main thing is that he's cuddly & NOT MADE FROM SOCKS!!

*The new creature was a chrissy present for a friend, I love him even more 'cause he's a bit evil & gremlin-y...* Cheesy

And here I fixed up his arms (made 'em smaller) & cut him a vest from a sock lol (well I have plenty left over!!!), it's more like a corset as it makes him much skinnier!!

New gremlin bear:

Brothers!!!

16  Sock animals from 'Sock & Glove' in Toys, Dolls and Playthings: Completed Projects by Queen Mab on: December 12, 2007 02:57:28 AM
Well!! My first proper post & I get to show you my cruddy sewing!! I bought the book 'Sock & Glove' 'cause it was just so darn cute & after my first attempt (a plain ugly sock monkey that is hiding somewhere in my bedroom, probably with a pair of scissors...  Undecided) I was still inspired to make more.

My second attempt was much cuter, if not much better sewn, that's the donkey... it's "supposed" to be a zebra but I thought 'Wonky the donkey" was much more fitting. Anywho, here is a pic of my sock animals before I posted them off as chrissy presents. They don't really look like animals from the book but it was a great help in making SOMETHING lol.

I found these clear boxes at kmart that were sooooo cheap, cheaper than cardboard gift boxes even so I got them & made some dodgy labels, easier to wrap & makes the animals more 'presenty' me thinks... Wink
