21  QUILTING / Quilting: Completed Projects / Mojito! the quilt of learning and trade on: October 06, 2015 05:08:21 PM
I am an old. I work with the not olds. One afternoon while I was working on some hand work one of the young women i worked with said something about learning something to keep busy with during down time. She said she would teach herself to knit.

We made a deal. A quilt for the pair of tardis mittens. This is my half of th deal. The colour palette sprang to mind an the pattern came to me fully formed.

And I got new mittens.

24  QUILTING / Quilting: Completed Projects / july scrap. whew I made it! on: July 27, 2015 05:40:09 PM
I wasn't sure this one was going to get done this month. I've been CRAZY with work and when I'm not working I'm running away to to woods. (and not to mention the sewing room was unusable after my miserable winter of haunted quilts)

So I had two day off. In a row this week. Yesterday I cleaned the sewing room. And last night I made the top. And today I quilted and bound it. Smiley

Sometimes quilts tell me where they want to go live while I'm working on them. This one, last night wanted to to to K's house. This afternoon. It said "no. I wanna go live with T" now I don't know what to do.
25  QUILTING / Quilting: Discussion and Questions / Quult Block Swap 7 is open! on: June 23, 2015 06:54:30 AM

Sign ups thru next week. Join us in adding some amazing WIP's to your stash. Wink make some blocks you'd never try on your own, play outside of your colour comfort zone and get a jump on the quilt you want to get around to.

Quilters don't get many swaps cause they take so long and are so huge. This one is a bit of fun for us!
26  QUILTING / Quilting: Completed Projects / june scrap quilt on: June 10, 2015 08:46:27 PM
You'd think I'd start running out of scraps. At least bug enough to cut...but I still have tons to go. Smiley

June's quilt didn't quite work as envisioned. But as we all know. Done is better than perfect. Wink

I may have time to get another scrap done this month I hope. I have my brain set on some dresdens...
27  QUILTING / Quilting: Completed Projects / may scrap quilt on: June 01, 2015 11:23:50 AM
This one came down to the wire. I had the top finished may 4. But I finished the binding last night after the opening week staff party.  Cheesy

29  QUILTING / Quilting: Completed Projects / wicca inspired fairy quilt on: April 28, 2015 06:06:26 AM
I have an awesome cousin. She has had a rough go for a couple of years. And this popped into my head fully fleshed out.

I scoured the Internet to make sure I was right in order of things and conferred with a pagan friend.

The four elements are loosely in the compass direction they would be placed in. (earth=north). The phase of the Moon is also in the associated element. And they glow in the freaking dark! (Yay fabric paint) also the freezer paper stencilled fairies (glitter fabric paint) are loosely masculine or feminine in appearance and are also in the element they are related to. Smiley

The back was a blue and green circle pattern that made me think of old school fairy rings and I used purple bobbin thread. Some of my reading let me think that purple was associated with the 'spirit' element that ties the other four together. I thought it was fitting.

Was delivered Saturday. And I'm pretty sure it will be well loved. I mean her hubby try to claim it first. Wink

Some close up picks of some of the paper piecing. And traditional blocks.
30  QUILTING / Quilting: Completed Projects / RedOrangeYellow quilt on: April 13, 2015 07:38:34 PM
This one can't technically go in my April scrap quilt thread. I mean I made it in April. And 98%of it came out of my scrap bin. But I did have to pull a couple extra red solids for variety.

Two inch squares. Ending up at 40x60inches . Squiggly quilting along the verticals.

This is just the unironed top but the colour is better. Wink
