1  QUILTING / Quilting: Completed Projects / super quilt! on: January 31, 2017 05:23:03 PM
I made this as a barter. Free theatre tickets for a superhero theme quilt (for a 60 year old) I think we both win.

alternate title was gotham under siege.  Grin

buildings and sky are pieces traditionally. Super hero logos are 5 inch paper pieced blocks from fandominstiches.com, the rays are applique.
2  QUILTING / Quilting: Completed Projects / bears for Arthur on: December 08, 2016 07:53:24 PM
An online friend from the UK requested this for her grandson. She found the image online and loved it. This is my recreation. Smiley

and a silly little face.
3  QUILTING / Quilting: Completed Projects / nuala wall hanging on: December 08, 2016 07:43:37 PM
This fall a friend and his girlfriend left for an adventure. From Canada to New Zealand. For her birthday he asked if I could make a small representative quilt of the dog she had fallen in love with this summer. But small so it could travel.with them.

I know. Aww.

Here it is in its new home.
4  QUILTING / Quilting: Completed Projects / dark and twisty Drunkards path on: December 08, 2016 07:37:30 PM
Over the past few years I have made quilts for "my kids" at work. Being the only 40 something in a team of early 20's was enlightening and eye opening for sure. Usually one.spoke.to.me while I was making it. Or popped into.my head fully formed for the recipient.

Except for Sara.

One.night after a super late shift. Drinking a bubbly rose on the deck she said the dark and twisty phrase and it came to me. And I had to teach myself how to sew curves

the cats WOULD NOT cooperate. Smiley backed with the most delicious Nightmare Before Christmas fabric.
5  QUILTING / Quilting: Completed Projects / the derpy dawgs quilt on: December 08, 2016 07:30:18 PM
My friend Sara wanted a quilt for her mom. And she wanted dogs. But not dog dogs... derpy dogs. She selected the fabrics. I just put them together. Wink

it is a mad riot of colour. And I kinda loathe applique. But it does make me smile. There are tons of sentimental fabrics chosen to.represent her and her brother and childhood memories.

And she loves it.
6  QUILTING / Quilting: Completed Projects / Marley quilt based off Jeff the Pig on: December 08, 2016 07:25:11 PM
This was made for a friend I work with. Her wee babe was born mid Nov, we had made a barter deal.... mid century modern telephone table for baby quilt.

They are modernly traditional and she was gravitating to triangle patterns so I went with this paper pieced block inspired by Bob Marley's three little birds.... and quite frankly. That is absolutely a message I want to sew into a baby quilt.

The nursery has a large painting of a pig that we called Jeff. Colours were inspired from there.

when asked if they wanted a white, black or grey background. Her hubby said... med grey. Babies are dirty. Smiley  backed with Toronto Blue Jays fabric. They are huge ball fans.
7  QUILTING / Quilting: Completed Projects / modern-ish log cabin-ish purple-ish on: October 10, 2016 07:35:44 PM
Made for a friend I worked with last summer.

She selected colours and pattern. A huge departure for me. But I really love the final project.

And i got to use my brand new labels. Designed and swapped by sheepBlue.

8  GLASS CRAFTS / Glass Crafts: Completed Projects / ravens-two for mirth on: August 29, 2016 04:44:09 PM
This summer's IYP I partnered.with sheepBlue. She likes ravens and mentioned she could use some outdoor decoration. My glass skillz are a bit rusty. But black lines hide my soldering weakness. It is sealed against weather.

to.show the iridescent bird glass.
9  QUILTING / Quilting: Completed Projects / harry potter bookcase quilt (adapted) on: August 29, 2016 04:36:54 PM
I made this.   From here...http://www.fandominstitches.com/2015/07/harry-potter-bookcase-quilt-along.html?m=1

It's a partial cause it was a swap item. And summer is only so long...

I made this. And I'm still a bit in shock.

This is it in its new home with sheepBlue.  Smiley
10  QUILTING / Quilting: Completed Projects / Craftster Canada Meetup. International pillow. on: June 27, 2016 06:05:03 AM
There was an amazing group of international craftsters who met up this past weekend to make messes and memories.

We made gifts for one another and selected white elephant style. This was my contribution.
