1  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / Craft Swaps / Re: The Terry Pratchett tribute Swap on: Today at 05:26:53 PM
Let us talk...what is your favourite book and why...

soul music.

It combines the whole disc. And is one of the first real showings of the mulitculturalness of the city. And the forst. Ime the city really comes out as a character in it's own right. It has wizards and watch and death. And Librarian. After all. Arent we all Born To Rune?

And some of the sneakiest puns in all of the books.

Med or large. Maybe just one awesome pratchett thing?  I have the best idea and want to make it for someone.

5  QUILTING / Quilting: Completed Projects / RedOrangeYellow quilt on: April 13, 2015 07:38:34 PM
This one can't technically go in my April scrap quilt thread. I mean I made it in April. And 98%of it came out of my scrap bin. But I did have to pull a couple extra red solids for variety.

Two inch squares. Ending up at 40x60inches . Squiggly quilting along the verticals.

This is just the unironed top but the colour is better. Wink

7  QUILTING / Quilting: Completed Projects / April showers... bring more scrap bin quilts on: April 13, 2015 11:37:52 AM
So next in my yearly challenge of making a scrap quilt a month out if the bins. Here is what I have so far in April.  I have been ridiculously sick with the flu and sat in the couch cutting squares.

This one didn't turn out quite like I imagined. It happens. I had hoped the different size blocks would stand out more.

This one was a Facebook give away.

And this one was going to be abandoned as a free for the taking but I think it let me know where it wants to go live.
I will update as more scrap quilts come from the bins. I'm working on a RedOrangeYellow one right now.Wink
8  QUILTING / Quilting: Completed Projects / crazy quilt of orphan blocks on: March 27, 2015 10:50:28 AM
Most quilters end up with spare blocks. Either the wrong size. Or colour. Or an experiment gone wrong. Or a complete math fail with angles.

This is what happens when you pick them all up off the floor, rummage them out of bags and put em all together.

The back and binding were also pieced and scrap. From other projects.
It's big and bold and the entire time I've been working on it. It's been telling where it wants to go live. Hopefully I can drop it off tonight.

And another I finished today.

10  QUILTING / Quilting: Completed Projects / what comes from "beneath" quilt (super long post with tons of process pics) on: March 27, 2015 08:35:14 AM
For the Be Awesome Redux swap I was paired with the incomparable sheepBlue. So I knew I had to bring my A game. Smiley
Finished project.

while chatting and pinteresting I settled on a piece of art she had pinned. So I wrote to the artist asking permission to make a quilt based on her art. (whiteoctopus on etsy... the piece is called "beneath"). Once that was granted. I broke out the graph paper.
I pulled out all my whites and blues and printed off a bunch of paper piecing patterns. it was the easiest way to get the crazy quilted fractured icy look I was going for.

Then. There was a pause. I didn't have a "sea" fabric in my stash. And it took me three days and four fabric shops and hubby pushing me to "forget about the price/meter, do what the quilt needs" (see why I married him! Smiley) to get the perfect fabric.

The tentacles, before I even started i knew I would be using a horded metallic dot fabric... Perfect for the impression of suckers.
We live in a house of cats. And they "helped" with basting.
And quilting
And squaring

I am so pleased with how this turned out. It was built to fit the top of a queen sized bed. But drape the length.

The original inspiration.

And this is what my notebook looks like at the end of a project Smiley
