1  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / Talk About The Swap Process / Re: Screw ups on: June 27, 2016 10:45:22 PM
I'm a quilter. Sometimes just selecting fabric takes 3+ hours  Wink. But like has been said. They are my hours and I have chosen to spend them.

So I guess. I don't count hours. Or material cost. When factoring swaps I try to make the thing I want to make for someone to the best of my skills.

Monday, June 27th Check In

No, never, although I've sometimes thought it might be fun to go on a quilting retreat or something.  Can totally relate to the social anxiety thing, I'm also not great about meeting new people (or, indeed, spending extensive amounts of time with other people - it stresses me).

Would also just like to apologise, as someone who has always considered themselves at least as much a citizen of the world as a citizen of Britain, for the shameful and damaging display my country is currently putting on.  Sad

Is OK. But so you know. The Canadians are worried about you all. It's like Mom has gone off her rocker and the kinda surly older brother living in the basement could lose his temper at any minute. And we don't know  what to do...

Tho it it appear Iceland is organising a second Brexit this week. Wink

 "Monday June 27th Checkin"

Discussion question: Have you ever done a quilting retreat or quilting meetup? What/where? Would you do one again?

Nope. Never done one. People weird me out. Especially strangers. And groups of strangers. Social awkwardness takes over and I want to flee. And I don't have a regular pack of quilters around to participate with even a few old faces amongst the new.

After this weekend I might think about one... if I had some fore knowledge of people participating.

Do craftster meet ups count? Cause I just got back from one of those. Wink
That's what makes me  think maybe a retreat might not be the worst.
4  QUILTING / Quilting: Completed Projects / Craftster Canada Meetup. International pillow. on: June 27, 2016 06:05:03 AM
There was an amazing group of international craftsters who met up this past weekend to make messes and memories.

We made gifts for one another and selected white elephant style. This was my contribution.

Smiley thanks. I really really want to cut into them. I need the wind to make them dry faster.

Dyeing is always such a fun, but nerve wracking experience... too much dye? Swamp muck. Not enough dye? Giant white sploches. Wa mixing gre and lilac a good call?

And the waiting...

I started crafting  for the Craftster Canada Meet up.

I cannot wait to cut into all of these. But I need zippers.
And they need to dry.

And as as proper quilter. I only needed fat quarters. So I dyed half meters. Cheesy

June 13 check in.

In 2002  I had won a gift certificate a few years earlier for 500$ off a machine at the lockal sewing machine shop and had picked up my banger machine. Were it promptly sat and did nothing.
Until '07. I had a traumatic knee blow out. And was fully couch bound for 12 weeks. I was BORED. I figured that when i could sit up i could do something. I had some random flannel around and made a rag quilt. And here we are today.

I am covered in colour from hand dying 10m of fabric in half m swatches.
