1291  Craft Swaps / ARCHIVE OF SWAPS THAT ARE TOTALLY FINISHED / Re: Douglas Adams Swap (SIGNUP March 9-19 ; MAIL BY April 27, 2008) on: March 11, 2008 07:02:48 PM
I saw on the interweb today that it is Douglas Adams' birthday- He would have been 56 years old. I shall drink a Pan Galactic Gargle Blaster in honor of the momentous occasion.

I'm in the process of moving, but I definitely want to sign up for this swap. Frankly, I feel like I'm not as into Douglas Adams as i should be. I didn't know about a lot of his other stuff. I've only read The Hitch Hikers Guide to the Galaxy books, and the dirk Gently books. The HHG one's came in a huge book all together that my mom got as a gift a long time ago. I think it had a short piece about Zaphod at the end of it.

That's all I've ever read too. I don't know much about the t.v or radio shows.
I did find this online though- an online babel fish translator http://babelfish.altavista.com/babelfish. The babel fish is one of my favorite things from the H2G2 series.  I am going to sign up for this swap as soon as I finish two other swaps this week.

I recieved a wonderful apron from MareMare yesterday. She did such a wonderful job with picking out the fabrics!! I have already broken it in by spilling food on it last night as I made supper. Good thing I had my new apron on  Grin

I received my package from lapoli. I loved opening each package, it was like Christmas all over again!

First here is a group shot of the wonderful packaging.

And here is everything unwrapped:

Something Local: A wonderful birch crochet hook made from local artisans. I can't wait to try this on my next project.

Something round: Tins for my spices. I don't know how she knew- but I was just telling my husband that we needed to redo our spice storage. These will help so much. B=basil, T=thyme, p=parsley,M=marjoram, and o=oregano.

Something green: Handmade green tea and cucumber soap. This just smells so yummy

Something Hard: Two bars of hard dark chocolate. I love the wrappers on these. And they taste pretty good too.

Something related to "T": Well I know that Lapoli had a hard time with this one but I think she did great Smiley She sent a "Try Me" kit of different yarns because I've only ever really worked with acrylic yarn. There are two cotton yarns and a soy/wool blend

Something Funny: Mr. Funky's Super Crochet Wonderful- need I say more??

Sender's Choice: Something warm. Lapoli knit me a calorimetry. I absolutely love this! I have been drooling over all the cool ones here on Craftster, and now I have one of my own Grin

And an action shot: This is so perfect, considering that this is pretty much how I wear my hair everyday and having to undo my pony tail every time I have to wear a hat gets annoying.

Thank you lapoli!!! I love everything.

time zones are stupid.  Yeah, I said it.

I don't know why but that made me laugh so hard! I think I am caffine deprived or something...  I will be at a conference all day saturday, that should help pass the time until sunday. I am ready to get my craft on!!  Grin
1298  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / New Swap Theme Ideas / Re: Craft your favourite book? on: March 06, 2008 05:32:26 AM
How about for choosing the partners you have them choose their 3 favorite genres and then once they are partnered up they will send each other a list of 10 books. The other person will reply with which books they have read and those ones will be taken off the list and replaced. That will happen until they have a list of 10 that the other person hasn't read, so they can choose the book without their partner knowing which one they will get.

That sounds like a great way to do it!

We almost went with little gnomes or pink flamingos on our wedding cupcake tower- instead we found the cutest bride and groom rubber duckies, which are now sitting on top of our t.v.

I am really excited about this swap, and a little scared. I don't know anything about some subjects (kawaii and some of the T.V. shows) and way too much about others(Green Bay Packers- I think being a Packer fan is a prerequisite for living in Wisconsin- especially Northern Wisconsin.) I hope I can come up with enough ideas for each of the different topics.

Three more days until partners!!!! w00t!!!
