1221  MISCELLANEOUS TOPICS / Discussion and Questions / Re: Exhibit at the County Fair! on: June 20, 2008 06:24:10 AM
Thank you for spreading the word about the county fairs! I never participated in 4H as a child, but I did start entering the my crafty endeavors into my  county fair's open division a couple of years ago. It is a great experience and I highly recommend that everyone try it.

I love the green one too. I also like the ones with all the different textures. Nice job!

they're not coasters, they're for a quilt - it's going to be all squares made by crafters

Roll Eyes@ me. I should have been more specific, I was originally talking about the coasters that animegirlie posted, although I do really like the quilt squares, especially the one in the top left corner of your picture. I also really love the idea of making a "craftster quilt" I can't wait to see how it turns out!!!
1225  Craft Swaps / ARCHIVE OF SWAPS THAT ARE TOTALLY FINISHED / Re: Summer Reading Swap-Signups:Closed; Sendouts:7/30 on: June 18, 2008 10:16:31 AM
I am going to sign up for this swap as soon as I have an opening. I absolutely love books and I love finding new authors to read. Now I am off to finish up some swap packages so I can join this one!!!
1226  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / New Swap Theme Ideas / Re: Creative Construction Kit Swap! on: June 18, 2008 09:58:04 AM
I would definately be up for this swap. I have tons of fabric that I am afraid to cut and use because of my very rudimentry sewing skills. I also like the idea of not having to buy anything since my partner will be sending me everything!!  Grin
I will keep a lookout for sign-ups!

1228  QUILTING / Quilting: Completed Projects / Re: Crazy Quilt Book Cover on: June 17, 2008 07:25:56 PM
Thank you so much for the kind words and for the advice. I will be sure to look for that book at my library. I started over twice on my book cover because I couldn't figure out how to get the loose ends in- then I just decided to embroider those ends. It was a lot of fun free handing the buttons and the embroidery.

1230  QUILTING / Quilting: Completed Projects / Crazy Quilt Book Cover on: June 17, 2008 12:32:39 PM
I wanted to share a crazy quilt patchwork book cover that I made for my partner in the Giant Multi-Theme Swap. The book cover is adjustable and has a dark brown corduroy backing. This was my first time trying to make any type of quilt. It was also my first time embroidering- lots of firsts!!!

Anywho... on to the photographic evidence:

Over all shot of the whole book cover

Some detail shots:

So how did I do for my first time? I didn't really know what I was doing, and I did leave some "loose" edges that I had to secure down with embroidery.Any advice you guys could give me on how to avoid that in the future would be greatly appreciated.
