I received an awesome bright envelope full of fun from Smmarrt this week! I really like the printed envelope.

Inside there was a plethora of really cool paper goodies including stickers, a Craftster card, a jointed paper doll, mixed media flowers, handmade envelopes and some fun paper shapes

Here is a close up of the jointed paper doll and the flowers.

Thank you so much Smmarrt!!!

Sorry for the delay- but I've finally found some time take photos of the amazing wall hanging that alwaysinmyroom made for me. It is so, so beautiful and fits me so perfectly. I love native prairie flowers and purple cone flowers are one of my favorites. I immediately hung it up in my living room and it makes me smile every time I see it.

A close up photo of the fun fabric painting and stitching:

And if that wasn't enough, alwaysinmyroom also included some beautiful core spun yarn that I am going to use this weekend to weave myself a wall hanging.

Thank you for being an amazing partner, alwaysinmyroom!

8  Stumpwork Purple Coneflower in Needlework: Completed Projects by LeapFeetFirst on: July 07, 2016 12:22:40 PM
At the Craftster meetup in Canada a few weeks ago, the amazing sheepBlue gave us a lesson in stumpwork. After my initial badge for the latest felt badge swap ended in epic failure, I decided to try out my newly gained stumpwork skills and create a small purple coneflower for PerfectlyBohemian.

Here is a few in-process photos:

The center was done with french knots with pearl cotton thread over a black felt base- not that you can see the felt...

Then I drew out some petals and began the process of securing the wire to the fabric.

A few split stitches later...

Then I cut the petals out, poked them through the felt base and secured them on the other side. One backing piece of felt later and the piece was done.

Now I have the urge to make everything in stumpwork!!

10  Kindness Mixed Media Hoopla in Completed Projects by LeapFeetFirst on: July 14, 2015 09:53:48 AM
I wasn't exactly sure where to put this hoopla I created for artsycandice in the Quotes Quotes Quotes swap, but I thought this was a good fit  Grin

I love creating mixed media art, but I wanted to do something that was a little different for me- to push myself to try new techniques. So I decided to start with playing with some of my fiber stash and seeing where things went from there. First I created a sheet of felt by wet felting merino, mohair, Cotswold locks, bamboo and silk- some of which I had hand dyed previously. While that was drying, i decided to play around with some BFL yarn that I had handspun and created a small woven piece. At this point I had thought that I would embroider the quote onto the hoopla when it was done, but when I tried that, the stitches kind of sank into the fiber background. So I pulled out my polymer clay supplies and rubber stamps and went to town.

After attaching the poly clay quotes and the woven piece, the hoopla still looked a little plain so I decided to add some french knots and seed stitches with embroidery floss, ribbon and handspun yarn. I also needle felted some more Cotswold locks onto the piece.

I am pretty happy with how this turned out- especially since I was winging it the whole time  Grin
