You could just get some spare fabric and just attempt to make something that you have seen and you like and try to make it in your own way.
If you wanted to learn how to crochet I know a book that is really helpfull it taught me to crochet. I think that there is one for knitting.

Wow! thats the book I have! I just cannot get the dang catch of it! But maybe I should try again for the 75th time lol I do have a few ideas I just dont want to mess up anything like I did my last attempt, of a shirt recon...not good at all

If you crochet or knit those are fun and easy things to take along with you also cross stiching, needle point, drawing is always fun,and you could take a camera and take pictures and post them in the more or less art section.

Thank you for writing, I will be taking my camera, But I dont know how to knit, or crochet I have countless books, but I cant get the hang of it! I thought about taking my mini sewing machine, but I dont have clue what to make!

You could always try to rip the seams on the inside leg on the pants, add some nice fabric, an then you would have a nice long skirt, or short withever you like, maybe the rip can be patched? hope this helps some!
