1  TOYS, DOLLS AND PLAYTHINGS / Toys, Dolls and Playthings: Completed Projects / Terry Cloth Critter! on: October 03, 2011 12:32:14 PM
This critter was made using Leslie's Mystery Critter pattern:

My partner in the Mystery Critter swap asked for something cute and Halloween-y, and this is what I came up with!

And just for fun, the critter with his candy corn extras:

The pattern is really simple, and possible faces and embellishments are endless!
I see a lot of mystery critters in my crafty future. Smiley

ITEMS: We will be using a point system, and will be crafting 4 points worth of items.
We are using the point system because it allows more flexibility in the size of items you are to send, while still ensuring each person receives a fair package while being able to manage their time as a swap participant as well as a busy student or teacher. Requirement examples are 4 smalls, a large and a small, medium and 2 smalls, etc. The requirement for this swap is 4 points, no less. If you and your partner discuss to craft more, that is up to you.

Point Values are as follows:
Large=3 points (3 or more hours)
Medium=2 points (2 or more hours)
Small=1 point (2 or less hours)

By Time:
Large: 3 or more hours
Medium: 2 or more hours
Small: 2 or less hours

By Size:
Big: shawl, a shirt, a skirt, a set of jewelry with four to five items, a purse
Medium: one single necklace or bracelet, a scarf
Small: earrings, stickers, wallets, pouches, bookmarks

By Price:
Big: $30 or more
Medium: $10-$30 dollars
Small: $10 or less

SENDING YOUR PACKAGE: YOU WILL HAVE A MONTH FROM THE DAY OF BEING ASSIGNED YOUR PARTNER TO ORGANIZE YOUR PACKAGE. Everything you send does not need to be handmade, there is a place in the questionnaire to request school supplies, but something DOES need to be handmade in order to meet requirements. Please put thought and incorporate your partners needs/interests in your swap package. A general rule to remember is to send something you would like to receive. Wink Delivery Conformation numbers are REQUIRED for this swap. Please keep this in mind before sending your package. You must PM me and your partner this number after sending your package.

COMMUNICATION: Please update on the board at least once a week until the send out dates. Once you send and receive, you MUST let me know in order to receive feedback. Communicating with your partner is also very important to ensure a happy outcome of the swap for you and your partner, and maybe youll make a new friend! If you do not do these things, it will be mentioned in your feedback comments that you had bad communication EVEN if you send your package to meet the requirements and on time.

FEEDBACK: Feedback will be given once you AND your partner receives packages. If for some reason you need feedback immediately after your partner receives, you need to PM me in advance. The requirements for this swap must be met in order for you to receive positive feedback. COMMUNICATION IS VERY IMPORTANT REGARDING FEEDBACK FOR THIS SWAP.

IDEAS: Stationary, agendas, revamped/custom book bags, dividers, pencil holder, tote bags, book covers, Small dorm room dcor.

4  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / New Swap Theme Ideas / Back to School swap? on: August 09, 2011 04:21:07 PM

I'm not sure if something like this has been done before, I just thought of it and came right to Swap Theme Ideas before researching it. Roll Eyes But college starts for me in less than a week, and public schools in my area start in less than 2 weeks(I'm assuming other areas will start in the near future as well!)...
Just an idea, but stationary could be made, agendas, revamped/custom book bags, dividers, pencil holder, tote bags, book covers.. Even small dorm room decor? I think it would be really cute to sport some cool DIY things for school this semester.
5  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / Owl Pen Pouch on: February 03, 2011 01:31:04 PM
Hey everyone, so this is my first post and finished project in a really long time. I went through a lot of changes in the past months, and I'm finally ready and able to get up and start crafting again!

I got the idea from http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=370009.0 who got the idea from http://www.keykaloupatterns.com/product/owl-coin-purse-pdf-sewing-pattern.
I thought it was simple enough not to need to buy a pattern and just made one of my own.

He doesn't have a name, but I think he should. Any suggestions?

ETA: His name is now Owlbert, thank you 6craftycats
6  CROCHET / Amigurumi: Completed Projects / oh, foo. on: July 13, 2009 06:03:31 AM

meet Foo, my 6 in the morning amigurumi. Just finished around 845am when the light & weather are both nice. (:

I filled his little belly with rice, so he hits forever and his eyes are puffy paint.

7  CROCHET / Crochet: Completed Projects / Julie Burke is a bum. on: July 13, 2009 01:28:41 AM

I love how easy this was to make, no increases/decreases.. just a big rectangle, sewed up then gathered at the top. I got the idea from cut out and keep, but I didn't save the link. Smiley

8  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / tshirt recons! on: July 13, 2009 01:23:18 AM
a very nice neighbor/fellow craftster let me borrow her sewing machine, and the first day I made this! Cheesy

*please ignore Miss Wannabe-America's-Next-Top-Model on the far left.*

It's made from an XL men's undershirt. I cut a band off the bottom and made it about 4 inches smaller, sewed it back on the shirt, cut the sleeves off, sewed the bottom of the sleeve hole so you couldn't see my goodies(Lips sealed), then tie dyed it to cover sweat stains! Cheesy woop.

and this isn't a tshirt.. anymore. :p

scarfy thing, it's too hot to wear now.. but whatever. I saw a few people make them the past couple weeks and decided to join them. It'll come in handy for fall/winter. Grin I made another one, but I don't feel like uploading the picture Roll Eyes It's skinnier/loopier than this one because I cut the strips thinner.
9  CLOTHING / Shoes: Completed Projects / but you'd have to walk a thousand miles on: July 11, 2009 07:20:14 AM
in my shoes, just to see
what it's like, to be me.

so a while back, I bought plain white chucks and I told myself once these get dirty enough, I'm going to the paint them! So I did.

right shoe, side one.
It has Beatles - All My Loving lyrics on it, "Close your eyes and I'll kiss you, tomorrow I'll miss you, remember I'll always be true".

side two. I was running out ideas, and this was the last side I did.. so I just put words and filled it in with random swirlies.
Make, Burke(my last name), relax, imagine, create, live, laugh, and buttons(house nickname. Lips sealed)

left shoe, side one. Shutterbug Grin not too much going on here, you get it.

left shoe, side two. I didn't do this, my boyfriend did. I told him I wanted him to draw on my shoes and I got on the computer, and this is what he did. It's his last name. (:

backs! (: Notice the crochet hook..
I used puffy paint, paint sharpies, pens, and regular sharpies.
10  CROCHET / Amigurumi: Completed Projects / NSFW: My little (Sir) swimmer. :) on: July 09, 2009 06:18:43 PM

pattern: http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=302944.0

I made a ton(not really, more like 5) more to go in a glass jar for a friend's sweet 16. Appropriate, right? :p But this one is my favorite, and I don't have pictures of the rest with me at the moment.. Roll Eyes I only read the pattern once, and didn't write it down.. I went by memory so mine is a little bigger then the original. But whatever. Smiley
