61  NEEDLEWORK / Needlework: Discussion and Questions / Re: embroidery needle question on: November 28, 2007 08:32:12 PM
Hm. Then it's probably just some bad needles. If you're using the needles that come with the kits, then yeah. Those will tend to be less quality than  one that you buy in a set.

I've personally had really good luck with my Lion brand embroidery needles. I've had them almost 2 years and they're still pretty shiny and I've only bent a few of them. Smiley

I know exactly what you mean! Hankies just seem more....manageable, y' know? And it's always handy to have one around.

Your design is so cute! But what is that banana's problem....

That's freakin' HAWT. I love it. It's giving me ideas....any chance of a tutorial?

The cravat in the picture looks like some sort of chain stitch to me. Maybe something like a heavy chain stitch?

My needles all bend AND tarnish. Generally mine bend more around the middle, though.

Are your needles vintage? All my vintage needles are all bent and tarnished like crazy (they were nickel plated copper). If not, they're probably just a bad brand.

Absolutely stunning. The details are so lovely and delicate. I'm sure your aunt will adore it. Best wishes to her speedy recovery.

STUNNING. I love the flames on her stomach. How did you get the colors to blend so smoothly?
69  NEEDLEWORK / Needlework: Completed Projects / Re: Embroidering With Beetle Wings! on: November 26, 2007 05:20:19 PM
How delicate! This is beautiful. I thought the design was painted on at first.

What gave you the idea to use beetle wings?
