51  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / A few random things I've noticed as a knitter... on: November 27, 2007 11:55:11 AM
So this is a random post, but just a few thoughts I had now that I've gotten past the 'total' newbie knitting stage...

  • Basic acrylic yarns no longer interest me... I want the softness of wools, cottons and other natural fibers. So long thoughts of cheap knitting! LOL
  • Once I get to a certain point in a pattern, and can actually SEE the project coming together, I get even more project hungry. I can't stop looking for the next project that I needta/hafta/wanta start RIGHT AWAY.
  • I never thought I would care about getting past the scarf/hat stage, but now that I've knitted a garment, all I can think about is lining my closet with sumptuous knits!

Roll Eyes Just some food for thought! haha
52  KNITTING / Knitalongs / Green Gable again, anyone?! on: November 27, 2007 11:26:26 AM
I just bought the pattern for Green Gable... and I know a KAL has been done for it before, but this is now!  Cheesy Anyone interested in starting a KAL for this project in the next month or so?

Also, for anyone that HAS already knitted a Green Gable, I'm thinking about subbing the Brown Sheep yarn for a 100% mercerized cotton yarn by Reynolds (Saucy). Anyone knit with this yarn before? I think the gauge is pretty dang close (5 sts/1") so should be an easy conversion... but I'm worried about the drape/softness and if the cotton splits easily while knitting?
53  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / Re: The Great Ravelry Topic on: November 27, 2007 11:16:07 AM
Anyone know when Ravelry will be done Beta Testing? Just curious, I went there the other day and it's just screenshots as of yet...  Huh
54  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / half-a-cardi project on: November 27, 2007 11:09:34 AM
I'm new to Craftster and loving the site!!

So I thought I would venture out and make my first post. I just finished a baby cardigan for a friend and now I'm working on a new project: Half-a-Cardi. It's my first 'adult-size' garment and I'm kinda in the advanced beginner range.  Grin

Here's a link to the pattern: http://www.xanga.com/dandeliondreamers/585461047/half-a-cardi-pattern.html

Here's my progress so far, I'm using Cascade 220 (100% wool). This is not only my first real garment, but also my first 'seamless' project:

Let me know what you think! I'm so excited!!
