1  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / New Swap Theme Ideas / Anybody for an "Assassin trilogy" swap on: June 24, 2014 12:56:32 PM
I am just reading it again and I still love Fitz (and Burrich <3) just as much as the first time.I personally enjoy her more than GRR Martiin Shocked
Was there ever a Robin Hobb inspired swap?
What do you think?
2  QUILTING / Quilting: Discussion and Questions / What is your favourite paper piecing book/website on: March 29, 2014 02:10:43 PM
Hi there,

I'm new to paper piecing but I can feel the luuurve! Grin
I have 300 paper pieced blocks (Doak), a quilter's Ark (Rolfe) and Spellbinding quilts (Bakker). Now what I really enjoy is making pictures...though I dare say I will try a mariner's compass too Wink

So which books or website do you use?
3  QUILTING / Quilting: Completed Projects / quilted paper pieced taggy on: March 26, 2014 04:08:52 AM
So I have a new niece...I wanted to make her a taggy (I've made her a quilt already) and I've just discovered paper piecing.
It measures about 8x8 inches

The choice of animals may look odd but it's part of one of my sister's favourite songs (which has my niece's name in Wink )
Unfortunately one of the ribbons is twisted but I hope it doesn't spoil the whole thing...
4  PAPER CRAFTS, SCRAPBOOKING & ATCs (ARTIST TRADING CARDS) / Artist Trading Cards (ATCs) / A mini in-house ATC swap on: May 29, 2013 11:51:48 AM
So I have been taking part in the May ATC swap (thanks Jillybeans for organising it) and my son decided to take part by making me 2 cards.

Here are his Ugkai soldier and cave troll

Then he asked for a knight and a wizard

5  FIBER ARTS / Spinning: Completed Projects / Fiber Friday - 25th Feb on: February 24, 2011 01:29:57 PM
I feel very shy and undeserving starting this Fiber Friday as I'm a newb, but nobody has started yet and on this side of the Atlantic there's only 3 hours left of Friday  Grin
THis is what I've been working on starting from most recent
Gratuitious shot of my brand new (cheap) spindle just because I'm in love with it!

Single unknown wool (came with the spindle)

And before that I'd been playing with natural shetland, many thanks to Mullerslanefarm who took the trouble to explain to me about Shetland wool.

plyed black (quite coarse)

single grey - this roving was softer than the black and I found that spinning it thicker kept it more pleasant - I'm afraid there is probably a bit too much twist in it.

Right now I've shown you mine, I want to see all your beautiful projects...
6  FIBER ARTS / Spinning: Discussion and Questions / spinning shetland...am I doing it wrong? on: February 05, 2011 08:17:26 AM
Hi,
I am a new spinner using a top whorl spindle. I have succesfully spun and plyed mohair and merino but this time, I'm trying to use some shetland undyed roving and it's very coarse..is it just the nature of the fibre or am I doing it wrong? I am spinning quite fine, would it be better thicker with less twist?
How do you do it?
Sorry if the question has been asked before...
7  MORE ART, LESS CRAFT / More Art, Less Craft: Completed Works / First post on this forum - pencil and chalk projects from my art class on: January 30, 2011 09:40:02 AM

Shown in chronological order
3  done on a very limited palette of colored pencils

and these are chalk pastels

Your comments and (gentle?) criticism will be most welcome!
8  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / New Swap Theme Ideas / craft for my significant other swap? on: September 04, 2010 04:11:54 AM
I know the subject has been discussed before but did it happen ?

My hubby is getting increasingly jealous of my parcels (the kids too but they had some things already Wink) and I know he would love to get a parcel just for him.

I can't organise (never have done before) but I'd be happy to Co-organise
What do you think?
9  QUILTING / Quilting: Discussion and Questions / RANT - and now in the raffle a...er...quilt thingy... on: July 04, 2010 12:41:46 PM
This is how two gorgeous lap quilts were defined today at my sons' school fete Angry
both were lovely warm colours and machine quilted in stipples...I was hoping to win one of those (can you have to many quilts) but was unlucky(double Angry)
The ignorance of the speaker was abysmal though he said "tea towels, cloths er quilt thingy...I prefer to sleep in a duvet myself...ha ha".
I nearly went to the tent to choke the idiot gentleman, but DH wanted to go home so I didn't really have the time Wink
I felt pain for the nice talented lady who spent all this time making 2 super quilts to GIVE to the school for their raffle.

must calm down now...maybe a piece of chocolate would help
10  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / New Swap Theme Ideas / Elfquest swap? on: June 21, 2010 05:50:19 AM
