1  KNITTING / Knitting: Completed Projects / My Very First Completed Knitting Project!!! on: November 30, 2010 08:37:57 PM
So this is the first thing that I have actually completed! I joined the knitting club at A&M and our goal for the semester was to make a project to be donated to a local retirement home. Well I took the challenge and decided to make a pillow, and I am so happy with the result.

I got the pattern from a learn to knit book that I got for Christmas last year and I used Lion Brand Homespun yarn in Ocean. Now on to the pictures!

This is one of the sides prior to being turned into a pillow.

THe completed product.

My BF testing it out for me.

I am so excited about how this turned out, I am already working on my next knitting project. I am definitely becoming addicted!!!!
2  NEEDLEWORK / Needlework: Completed Projects / I do believe in faries, I do, I do on: August 12, 2010 10:16:57 PM
So my most recently finished cross stitch is of none other than Tinker Bell. I started this project when I was in North Carolina with my BF and was able to finish it by the time we had driven back to Texas. I love this project because it was the perfect size to work on in the car during our lovely 21 hour drive.

I have to say that after doing this project I despise using pearl filament floss, it is a pain in the butt, and it took my way longer to stitch tinks wings than it normally would have Sad. But I trudged on through and love the finished result.

And now for the pictures:

In progress shot, taken in the car... she kinda looks like an alien right now

A close up of the finished product, just look at those wings sparkle Smiley

And finally a full shot frame and all

The pattern had called for stitching Tinker Bell at the top between her wings but I didn't like the way it looked so I decided to omit that part. The frame is a random one I had lying around that I gave a couple coats of purple spray paint for just the right amount of pizazz. Now I just need to decide where to hang it, I move into my new apartment next week so we shall see where she ends up Cheesy

Thanks for looking!! C&C appreciated
3  HOME SWEET HOME / Crafty Housewares: Completed Projects: General / Super Awesome Memo Board on: July 29, 2010 01:41:50 PM
I had been inspired for a while to make a memo board similar to this one at Moda Bake Shop http://www.modabakeshop.com/2009/08/eva-patchwork-memo-board.html. So after much procrastination I finally got myself a cute charm pack and went to work with a frame a scavenged from my garage, and this was the result!

Hanging on the wall.

A closer in use picture

I really like the tutorial from Moda Bake Shop, I altered it a little bit to suit my personal preference. The hardest part was making sure that the ribbons stayed taught enough while sewing the buttons on. The charm pack I used was fresh cottons by fig tree quilts, I adore these fabrics they are super cute!

Thanks for looking Smiley
C&C appreciated

6  HOME SWEET HOME / Interior Decorating: Completed Projects / Glitter is a girls best friend on: January 26, 2010 02:19:08 PM
I just moved into my new apartment a few weeks ago and my fellow roommates each had a name thing/letter non their door. So after a quick trip around the corner and a little bit of crafting I have this on my door:

A hot pink glittery H! The paint I used said it was glow in the dark but it doesn't glow very well  Sad
These pics are pretty true to color, the pink is slightly more neon in person. I painted the letter with a couple coats of the pink paint and then dumped a whole tube of glitter on it.

I hung it on my door with a 3M hook and used light pink ribbon, I got to buy a new hot glue gun Cheesy

C&C welcomed and appreciated.
