1  NEEDLEWORK / Needlework: Stitchalongs / Re: Big Project Stitch A-long 2012 on: February 03, 2012 11:00:47 AM
Everyone's projects look great so far! I have a problem with project ADD (ok, so just ADD in general) but I found something I really like and hope to complete this year. It is Shallow Grave by Jasmine Becket-Griffith from Heaven and Earth Designs.http://heavenandearthdesigns.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=160_17&products_id=2837

I love everyone's work! You guys are so inspiring! I have finally decided that I am going to attempt to be as amazing and start a big project. I know that I won't be able to finish it this year because I have project ADD and jump from one thing to another, but maybe posting in here will keep me more motivated.
I have always loved the stuff at Heaven and Earth's designs and finally decided that I want to do the whole 7 deadly sin series that they have so I got brave and decided to start with Vanity (http://heavenandearthdesigns.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=160_331_332&products_id=5087).
This is my first time doing anything this size and only my second time using evenweave. If my project turns out even half as good as the ones I've seen on here I will be completely happy! Wish me luck!

I haven't picked up a crochet needle for years, but this has totally inspired me!  My 4 year old told me that he and his two little brothers (who can't talk yet) all want one.
6  SEWING IN GENERAL / Sewing in General: Discussion and Questions / Re: Any good sewing books? on: December 01, 2007 02:07:19 PM
Thanks everyone I've taken a little of everyones advise. I found a readers digest book, and dropped my machine off to be cleaned and serviced (When I got it I set it up and it was pretty dusty.  I found a pattern for a simple apron that I was to make when I get it back and a friend of a friend is going to come over and help me with it and also help me make a cover for it.

I'm so excited! I can't wait to get started. Hopefully my apron turns out well so I can post it on here without being too afraid of feedback.

Thanks again!
7  SEWING IN GENERAL / Sewing in General: Discussion and Questions / Any good sewing books? on: November 28, 2007 07:11:27 PM
I'm new here (as a matter of fact this is my first post!) and I have had a sewing machine for a long time but have know idea what I'm doing with it. Everything I do has the same stitch, but I want to start using it to make clothes for myself and my sons and other things for around the house.  I want them to look at least halfway decent so I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions on books that will help me learn to use a sewing machine properly, types of stitches and when to use them, how to use a pattern, etc.  I've tried finding sites online to help, but I do better reading out of a book (or at least looking at the pictures).

Thanks in advance, and OMG what a great website!!!!!! I'm  going to be busy for the rest of my life trying to make all the great things you crafty people have done!
