15  PAPER CRAFTS, SCRAPBOOKING & ATCs (ARTIST TRADING CARDS) / Paper Crafts: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / Repurposed book into expanding file on: October 06, 2010 11:02:02 PM
I've made a few purses out of these old Reader's Digest condensed books. I've got like hundreds of them.  So this time I wanted to have the same concept, but something that you can throw into your larger purse, so I made this expanding file.  I used manilla folders to make the dividing sections, covered them with scrapbook paper using mod podge, then glued it all together with the mother of all craft glues: E6000

I also wanted the sides to look like pages from a book, so I used pages from the book Wink

16  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / Re: Some vinyl record cuffs on: September 22, 2010 11:29:40 PM
These are super easy to do, just use good scissors (ok not your good scrapbooking ones or sewing ones).  Also you want to find something to shape the cuffs around. I have small wrists and found a sunscreen bottle that worked better than all the soup cans in the pantry.  We made some earrings too, cut thin strips, punched holes and then wrapped them spiral style around a pencil. They are cute and music to my ears! lol

Oh I should mention, you can keep putting the vinyl back in the oven if the shape is not to your liking.
17  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / Very simple recon - Scrubs top to apron on: September 09, 2010 09:07:16 AM
My sister is a nurse and is constantly giving me her old scrubs to make stuff with.  Usually I make little dresses for my 2 year old, but this time I made something for her Smiley
This was the easiest recon ever.. it already had one of those strings that you tie behind the back, so I just cut it there, sewed it inside out, added a pocket and viola! We have an apron Smiley
I think it took all of 5 minutes.

And the scrubs top before:

Later I made my daughter an apron out of the scraps, but I forgot to take a picture of that.
18  HOME SWEET HOME / Crafty Housewares: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / Vinyl Record bowl on: September 09, 2010 08:44:52 AM
I made some fun vinyl record bowls, they are so easy and cheap to make. I only took pictures of this one though.  I love how shiny they are. I followed a tutorial off of youtube, and I also laminated the record label with clear contact paper.  I am using one for a candy bowl and another in my bedroom to hold all my bracelets, cuffs, etc..  I will be making some as Christmas gifts for my neighbors and filling them with red and white candies too. This is a very fun and cheap craft to do.

Note: Vinyl record bowls are not food safe.

19  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / Some vinyl record cuffs on: September 09, 2010 08:33:31 AM
I followed a tutorial off of youtube and made these rad cuffs from old vinyl records.

we made lots of them!

We actually painted some with acrylic paints but I forgot to take pictures of those. They turned out really cute.
20  OCCASIONS AND HOLIDAYS / Easter / Cascarones! (Confetti eggs, but instead of confetti filled with bird seed) on: April 05, 2010 03:47:10 AM
Here in Central Texas we call them Cascarones because primarily they come from Mexico and that's what is written on the carton.   However, I made my own, we drained out the egg goop, then dyed/decorated, filled with birdseed and closed them up with colorful tissue paper.  Then we got to smash them all over each other.  Good times!
