1  COOKING / Recipes and Cooking Tips / Re: Pretzels! on: October 05, 2009 12:48:39 PM
I made 3 batches of these today!
It's a wonderful recipe for basic pretzels that you can really spice up. The second batch I made was Wheat apple-cinnamon:
substituted reg. flour for wheat flour, substituted milk for 1/2 cup of warm applesauce and 1/2 cup of warm water, added 4 tablespoons of brown sugar, added a tablespoon or so of cinnamon.

followed rest of directions as usual. I know I used more flour on this batch than the regular one..These were really lovely! Also, instead of salt on the top I sprinkled them with regular sugar before they went into the oven...

The third batch was garlic-cheese:
used half wheat flour and half bread flour, substituted brown sugar for a pinch of regular sugar, added a teaspoon of garlic salt, added about 2 tablespoons of minced garlic (We like our stuff REALLY garlicky, it'll be just as good if you add less) and a few handfuls of shredded cheddar cheese.
topped with more shredded cheese and some kosher salt before baking..

How did you get your pretzels so pretty? My pretzel shaping skills need some SERIOUS work.

NICE! I have a package sitting here waiting for inspiration... XP  How much does it shrink? Any idea of the percentage? The directions are really awful, lol.

about 1/3.... It took me some serious trial/error though.. Now I scan my original artwork into photoshop so I can scale everything from there... (yeah I know, people send me cookies weekly for being a genius)

I burst out laughing when I read this. What a hilarious response!  Grin

Wow, a day of the dead themed wedding. How very, well odd. I guess it's odd to me because I have never celebrated this festival and in fact only discovered it through Craftster. Wrong hemispehere and all that.

Yeah, it's pretty far from traditional.. It's actually a weird story. A few months ago I got this awesome idea that I wanted to find some crazy gothy chick and craft some shoes for her wedding with something almost exactly like this (only with 'till death do we part' written instead...and a different wedding dress, because i drew this one like the bride's) and LO AND BEHOLD about a week later some sweet rockabilly girl from arizona messages me about a custom order doing just what I had thought up!!!

thats just about fantastic and a half. I'm pretty sure i would have gotten about 1/2 of a 1/2 of a 1/2 of the way through the halter top and destroyed it in an impatient rage.

Yeah, I hate myself for not taking before pictures of all my shoes..
I did these about a month ago, I wanted to keep them but they didnt fit.

The pictures make them look brown but they're actually black with gold rubbed over them, so they have this fun golden sheen.
