1  SEWING IN GENERAL / Sewing in General: Discussion and Questions / where do you purchase your sewing supplies? on: February 20, 2010 04:26:31 PM
Ive been hunting around trying to find good deals on supplies. Thanks to a response by SewClassic on a different thread she gave the heads up on purchasing needles from discount embroidery supply, which is very helpful to me because i have a stupid kenmore  Angry (just kidding serger, i love you!!!)  and have trouble finding needles that fit. But where do you guys get all the rest of your stuff like thread, zippers, lace, all that good stuff.
I have bought fabric and lace on ebay and my aunt has brought me spools of thread for my serger from mexico, but my supply is running low and my aunt hasnt come to visit in a while. oh and when i did buy lace and stuff from ebay, i found it sold by the roll at hobby lobby and walmart for a fraction of the cost! darn! Tongue

A couple of years ago my sister gave me a Harry Potter dvd pack and it came with coin replicas from the movie, (i like to think theyre real). they were in a little display case but my terror of dog syrup go to them and destroyed the case trying to eat the coins. i saved them and i would really like to make some jewelry with them. at least with one of them. but i dont just want to drill a hole in them. any ideas?!

3  POTTERY, CERAMICS, POLYMER CLAY / Pottery, Ceramics, etc: Completed Projects / fish vase on: October 25, 2009 02:25:40 PM
This is a project from my ceramics 1 class i took in the summer but i reglazed it and it just came out of the kiln a couple days ago.

This was made using the slab and coil technique and i tried to make a beautiful blulbous-y shape but it came out really wonky and a friend said, Hey it looks like a fish. so with a needle tool i carved out scales making some smooth and others rough.
This was the first piece i ever glazed so it didnt come out as planned so i redid the glazing and it came out better, not exactly what i had in mind, but im happy. btw this was low-fire

i made alot more pieces but was scared to glaze because i wanted them to be perfect but im learning that everything is trial and error. and sometimes mistakes come out beautiful. like my fish vase, not exactly a beauty but still interesting. Smiley
4  CLOTHING / Shoes: Completed Projects / sequin stilleto pumps on: October 18, 2009 11:09:46 PM
I had this pair of black pumps that my basset hound Syrup, used as a chew toy, and I never threw them out because i was certain I could fix them some how. Well thanks to some inspiration from katielouise (http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=319142.0), I decided to make my own sequin shoes. I have a couple of yards left over but i think thats due to the shape of the shoe. They are by no means perfect, but i think i have bigger problems if someone is looking at my feet that close up.  Tongue

5  HOME SWEET HOME / Pet-Related Crafts: Completed Projects / instant dog bed on: October 05, 2009 06:57:45 PM
my dog waffles, who is really like another child to me,( i know Cesear Milan doesnt condone treating dogs like people Tongue) has been sleeping in the closet for some reason so i decided to make her a new bed. We had this extra basket that was pretty useless to me so i made her a cushion and...voila, instant dog bed!

waffles being sexy!

work it, work it! haha

and Marilyn donating a pillow to Waffles

They are actually very jealous of each other so i was surprised to see Marilyn giving away her cowgirl pillow. Turns out she was trying to trade the pillow for the whole basket bed. She made Waffles get out of the basket and tried lying in it herself.  Roll Eyes Don't worry, we have let her know its strictly for Waffles.

P.s. i know my dog needs a haircut...but i like her poofy and im scared to cut her hair new her eyes.
