Ive been hunting around trying to find good deals on supplies. Thanks to a response by SewClassic on a different thread she gave the heads up on purchasing needles from discount embroidery supply, which is very helpful to me because i have a stupid kenmore (just kidding serger, i love you!!!) and have trouble finding needles that fit. But where do you guys get all the rest of your stuff like thread, zippers, lace, all that good stuff. I have bought fabric and lace on ebay and my aunt has brought me spools of thread for my serger from mexico, but my supply is running low and my aunt hasnt come to visit in a while. oh and when i did buy lace and stuff from ebay, i found it sold by the roll at hobby lobby and walmart for a fraction of the cost! darn! PLEASSSEEEE SHARE YOUR SUPPLIERS!!!
A couple of years ago my sister gave me a Harry Potter dvd pack and it came with coin replicas from the movie, (i like to think theyre real). they were in a little display case but my terror of dog syrup go to them and destroyed the case trying to eat the coins. i saved them and i would really like to make some jewelry with them. at least with one of them. but i dont just want to drill a hole in them. any ideas?!
ill post a pic later cuz i accidently uploaded the blurriest one. oops
This is a project from my ceramics 1 class i took in the summer but i reglazed it and it just came out of the kiln a couple days ago.
This was made using the slab and coil technique and i tried to make a beautiful blulbous-y shape but it came out really wonky and a friend said, Hey it looks like a fish. so with a needle tool i carved out scales making some smooth and others rough. This was the first piece i ever glazed so it didnt come out as planned so i redid the glazing and it came out better, not exactly what i had in mind, but im happy. btw this was low-fire
i made alot more pieces but was scared to glaze because i wanted them to be perfect but im learning that everything is trial and error. and sometimes mistakes come out beautiful. like my fish vase, not exactly a beauty but still interesting.
I had this pair of black pumps that my basset hound Syrup, used as a chew toy, and I never threw them out because i was certain I could fix them some how. Well thanks to some inspiration from katielouise (http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=319142.0), I decided to make my own sequin shoes. I have a couple of yards left over but i think thats due to the shape of the shoe. They are by no means perfect, but i think i have bigger problems if someone is looking at my feet that close up.
before: the heels
after: again not perfect but i am happy.
and finally, the culprit: shes so bad, she had to be arrested! (old pic)
NO dogs were harmed in the making of these shoes thumbs up?
my dog waffles, who is really like another child to me,( i know Cesear Milan doesnt condone treating dogs like people ) has been sleeping in the closet for some reason so i decided to make her a new bed. We had this extra basket that was pretty useless to me so i made her a cushion and...voila, instant dog bed!
waffles being sexy!
work it, work it! haha
and Marilyn donating a pillow to Waffles
They are actually very jealous of each other so i was surprised to see Marilyn giving away her cowgirl pillow. Turns out she was trying to trade the pillow for the whole basket bed. She made Waffles get out of the basket and tried lying in it herself. Don't worry, we have let her know its strictly for Waffles.
P.s. i know my dog needs a haircut...but i like her poofy and im scared to cut her hair new her eyes.
im a newbie to the world of polymer clay. ive been a fan, but just got the courage (and supplies) to make something. they are unfinished i need to smooth them out and bake them but you guys get the general idea right? so...what do ya think?
a rose, i only have white, yellow, pink, and ecru, so i choose white for the rose.
cameo cupcake (excuse my nasty chipping nail polish)
So i have decided that this year my 1 1/2 yr old daughter will be wonder woman for halloween. i kinda have her outfit planned out except for the boots. at first i thought rain boots but i knew in texas heat she wouldnt have that at all so...maybe knitted.
i need all kinds of advice, from the needles to buy, the yarn, and the pattern. i have never knitted before, this will be my first attempt. is this too much for me? please let me know. all advice is appreciated!
im really excited for halloween this year. ive been thinking of what my daughters costume would be since last halloween. haha shes about a year and half but i think it would be soooo cute to dress her as.....WONDERWOMAN!!!
what kind of fabric should i use? i was thinking lycra spandex-y material.
how do i make the bracelets? out of what?
i wish i new how to knit, so i could knit the boots. anyone know how to knit and wanna swap for something!? =) thanks for reading this and thanks in advance for the help. ::squeee:: im so excited!!!
I was so excited to get a serger and even more excited when it came with an instructional dvd. i have a kenmore serger. i am following the manual, changing the settings correctly for a rolled hem, yet my right needle thread kep breaking. why? its driving me crazy. i even broke a needle. ive never done that. could it still be then tension even though ive set it as suggested? im using a lightweight non stretch cotton.
I got this dresser i found on craigslist and while we were there picking it up, the lady gave me the matching headboard for a twin bed. I would have rather she given me the end table, haha but beggers cant be choosers. I know this has potential but i cant think of what to do with it since my head is stuck on colors to repaint the dresser. ideas? P.s. the mirror that came with it is all stained and weird. windex will not fix it. Ideas please
