22  KNITTING / Knitting: Completed Projects / first mittens! on: December 06, 2007 11:38:19 AM
These are the first mittens I've ever knit and I like how they turned out. I call them Violet Mittens because I was listening to The Reptile Room (Lemony Snicket's Series of Unfortunate Events #2) while knitting them. And not only do they look pretty good but they are functional too-they kept my hands warm when I went out to get the mail today (new yarn!). Enjoy!

23  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / how to sew a zipper onto something knitted on: December 05, 2007 04:10:54 PM
Hey guys, I am making little coin purses from a pattern and to finish I'm supposed to sew a zipper onto the ends. Help! Where can I find instructions (with pictures or video preferably) on how to do this? Is this something that can be hand sewn or do I need a sewing machine? Thanks for the help!

24  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / Knitting owies on: November 28, 2007 10:48:31 AM
Hey guys, anyone else have a similar experience or solutions?

I was using smallish (size 3) needles and knitting what was the write cuff for a mitten. Nothing hurt but when I set my knitting down an hour later I realized that the tip of my middle left finger (I'm a continental) was completely numb! I guess maybe I kept it in one position too long-curled around the rectangle soon to be mitten cuff? It lasted 3 days too which worried me. I switched in the project later to a size 7 and had no problems and none since. But I'm starting mitten #2 soon and am afraid of the same thing happening again. Any advice, suggestions, stories? Thanks!
