1  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / i want to knit this, but can i get around this...?? on: December 15, 2008 10:32:54 PM

i want to knit this beautiful hat, but do i have to do the chain/crochet cast on? i've never done it, and i really don't even know how to do it

so can i just cast on normally or is it crucial to the pattern?
or...can someone tell me/send me info on how to do this weird cast on??

thanks guys!! xoxox

thanks guys, i figured it out. i think it was a misprint, because only increasing 1 stitches makes the correct number of stitches in the end

i'm knitting mittens and i'm shaping the thumb gusset at this point
i've been increasing 2 stitches every other row for a while, and i'm confused as to why it would have me suddenly inc 8 stitches?

8  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / why is my pattern confusing me now? on: October 05, 2008 10:47:28 AM
ok so i've been doing well so far...and the pattern keeps saying K3 (P1. K3) 3 times. P1. K2. Inc 1 st in next st. K6...blah blah" but THEN, in the next line it "blah blah blah...Inc 1 st in each of next st. K8...blah blah"

ok. why does it say "each"Huh is that different? or is it just a typo?

thanks guys!
