Ooh, the yarn is so fab.  Love the color.  Your nephew is a lucky kiddo!

SUPER CUTE!  And the colors are beautiful!  Did you make the pattern yourself?

As a doll clothes maker, I am so jealous of soap-makers' ability to make such simple, beautiful packaging.  Hope to see what you come up with!  I'm so fond of paper wrappers, and twine, and homemade-looking paper... I have to find a way to incorporate them into my own stuff lol

Very cute!  Would love to see one worn Smiley
I like that you constructed them with wire and not glue.  Very smart!

Did you play night on bald mountain and cackle villainously as you handed out candy?  This is freakin' sweet!!
9  NEEDLEWORK / Needlework: Discussion and Questions / Artiste Floss from Hobby Lobby on: October 27, 2011 02:55:43 PM
I found a 36 pack of Hobby Lobby Artiste 6-strand floss.  Normally I splurge on DMC but they had this pack of lovely ombres and I thought for $6 it might be worth a try... and am fully aware that you get what you pay for.

Two lengths in and I'm finding that it's got this weird, sticky feeling, and is really fuzzy and might not be mercerized.  Still, it's stitching okay.  But I'm wondering whether it will be colorfast.

Has anyone completed a project with this floss and if so, what did you think?  Did it stand up to washing okay?

Here is the item in question: http://shop.hobbylobby.com/store/item.aspx?ItemId=186536
10  KNITTING / Knitting: Completed Projects / Re: Nothing special... but my first ever SOCK!!! on: October 24, 2011 02:41:31 PM
A bit of unsolicited advice:
If you do find yourself with second-sock-syndrome, research the two-socks-on-two-circulars method.  It's very easy for me (DPNS ARE MADE OF EVIL) and since you knit both socks at once, you don't feel like you have to totally start over when you are done.

That said your first go at it is absolutely beautiful and I'm so happy for you - I love knitting socks, I hope you enjoy it as much as so many of us do!
