lol I'm pretty frugal myself. I'm the type of person who thinks it's fun to stay at home and clip coupons!

but yeah, this was just one of those things for me, I guess. I absolutely love the pattern and had to have it.
13  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General / Super Mario Nintendo Messenger bag on: August 24, 2009 05:13:07 PM
Here's a messenger bag I made not too long ago. I got the fabric on the flap printed from the wonderful Spoonflower, and the rest from Fabricland.

I made the bag about average size. Not too big, and not too small... It's about 13-14 inches across.
I've been working on various messenger bag designs for the past year or 2, trying to figure out something that's easy enough to make, practical, good looking and sturdy. I think I've finally figured out a way I like!

It has a zippered pocket on the front of the bag body, a zippered one in the flap, and a divider on the inside.(I couldn't get a very flattering pic of it. Oh well XD)

I'm a very geeky person at heart with a love for anything vintage or retro. That'll become more and more apparent as I post my creations.

Hope you guys like!

I got tha fabric from walmart, believe it or not. it's a nice canvas.

The pattern i used was the "highbrow hobo bag" pattern

and it's about 18 inches across. it's pretty roomy! Smiley

Is that the original size Buttercup bag or is it a larger one?  It's very nice - I was just curious about the size, since I just made myself a Buttercup bag so I'm more conscious of the size now.

I'm pretty sure it's the original size one

I remember seeing this fabric and, doing what any sewing fanatic does, I grabbed it and bought a bunch without even a though about what I'd make with it.
I did, however, manage to actually use it lol.. This wonderful bag was born, I made 2, this one, and another almost exactly the same for my mother who was crazy for it!

P.S. this is made from another pattern by the wonderful U Handbag site Smiley

It's pretty big without being too big! It's also lined with light sewing fleece, so it holds it's shape well, and still has that durable squish to it. I love this pattern so much X3
