1  BATH AND BEAUTY / Bath and Beauty: Discussion and Questions / New to soap making on: January 25, 2008 08:57:14 PM
So tomorrow I am picking up a soap kit, and I am wondering if anybody has any helpful hints in making hand made soap??  I am very new to it, but I will have your basic things for making soap, I just need an idea of neat tricks you can do with it?  How do you get soap to be different colors without dye getting on your hands and stuff?

I made a hand bag for my younger sister!  This is how it came out!  I used a rainbow colored variegated yarn.  What do you think for my first hand bag?
3  CROCHET / Crochet: Completed Projects / A Small Afghan + Small Tutorial on: January 13, 2008 05:47:34 PM

http://i128.photobucket.com/albums/p190/SnowFae23/PICT0020.jpg

Here is a small afghan I made.  It was designed to go across the back of a rocking chair or couch.

Hope its nice!

Tutorial for seamless afghan.
For making a seamless afghan like mine, make sure your ending tail is at least twice the length of the granny square.  Then take your large sewing needle and stitch them together but go through each individual chain.  Be sure to go through the center of the chain and not around the chain, other wise you will have a seam, though sometimes seams can be a nice texture if it is done correctly.  At the end when you are done connecting be sure to tuck in the extra yarn just to give it that extra security!!
4  COOKING / Dessert / Chocolate Covered Pretzels Made Easy on: January 10, 2008 09:53:20 PM
Okay so you guys now know how to make fudge from Juniper_Ann's thread... Well I took it one step further, and I made chocolate covered pretzels!!

Here's a snippet of Juniper's fudge melting technique:

Part of me doesn't want to give away my evil secret but...I'm going to stuff that part back in the basement where she belongs.  If you want to make fudge, you can mess around with double boilers and candy thermometers...or you can cheat and no one will know!

Ingredients:
1 can sweetened condensed milk
1 pound (3 cups) chocolate chips
You can use semi-sweet, milk chocolate, white chocolate, peanut butter, etc.
I usually use half milk chocolate & half semi-sweet.
Dont use all semi-sweet unless you know that the person is a dark chocolate fan.

Materials:
Microwave
Microwave-safe bowl
Foil
Something with vertical sides for cooling the fudge (I use a 9x9 casserole dish)

Directions:

1. Get a cookie sheet and line it with wax paper.

2. Cover the entire cookie sheet (after you put down the wax paper) with pretzels

3. Place milk & chips in microwave safe bowl.

4. Microwave on high at for 1 minute, then 30 second intervals until chocolate looks melty.  Stir.  If its still not completely melted, then 30 more seconds (etc.)

5.  Once the chocolate is stirred and completely melted, get you a spoon and drizzle it over the pretzels as little or as much as you like.

6. Stick the cookie sheet in the freezer to cool it down.

7. When chocolate hardens, remove pretzels and eat them!!

Enjoy the recipe!!
5  COOKING / Recipes and Cooking Tips / I need Chicken recipies on: January 10, 2008 09:43:51 PM
I am a 24 year old lady, and I live with my mom and dad because they need some help around the house with their health being what it is....

The only real meat my parents can safely eat is chicken... and they are diabetic...

Mom is alergic to tomatoes and onions.  Dad eats pretty much anything...

So I was wondering aside from your classic fried chicken, or chicken alfredo, or "just add seasoning to give it flavor"  I am looking for some chicken recipies that is friendly for diabetic people.... Does anybody have any to share??

I think a good sub forum would be for Resin makers... people who crochet, and candle making.
7  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: General / Turquoise delight on: January 10, 2008 02:25:47 PM

I call this, Turquoise Delight!  Its a mix of turquoise and silver beads.  I made matching earrings and bracelet too.  This took me about 20 to 30 minutes to make.  It's simple yet elegant at the same time!!  I had a hard time getting a clear picture because the beads were so shiney.
