that's very cool
i'm wondering why someone would request a pickle-bank, though

I requested it because we call my son "pickle" cause his name is Dylan or Dill.  I couldn't find any pickle banks so I looked for someone on craftster to make one for me!

I love it!  I love it!  I love it!  What a conversation piece.  The recipient should be ecstatic.

I am ecstatic!  Thank you for doing this for me!

This is great! One question though, where did you get and is it a collectible? It looks really old but maybe thats just me. Great job anyways!!!!!

Thanks, I got it from a couple that my friend was helping move a few years ago... I think it was sitting in their garage or outside or something... and got some water damage so it rusted it, I don't think it's a collectible, or very old, but it would be cool if it was!

This is beautiful!  I have a trunk almost exactly like this that I got from a rummage sale and have stalled out on finishing.  Did you scrape the inside?

actually, I think there was water damage and the lining had seperated from the wood inside the trunk, I just had to pull the paper lining off, it was like contact/wall paper...

I decided that my son needed a toy box, but I wanted something that wouldn't be an eyesore in the livingroom... sooo... I took this old steamertrunk that was in really bad shape...

I painted it black with acrylics so it wouldn't stink up the house, and decoupaged the top with some pretty paper... then covered the whole thing with the modpodge

Here are the before's

and after
