2  steamer trunk revival in Crafty Housewares: Completed Projects: Reconstructed by superbelles on: February 21, 2008 06:12:07 PM
I decided that my son needed a toy box, but I wanted something that wouldn't be an eyesore in the livingroom... sooo... I took this old steamertrunk that was in really bad shape...

I painted it black with acrylics so it wouldn't stink up the house, and decoupaged the top with some pretty paper... then covered the whole thing with the modpodge

Here are the before's

and after

4  Dia De Los Muertos Blanket! in Baby Showers And Gifts For New Babies by superbelles on: February 21, 2008 05:44:54 PM
So, my friend's baby shower is coming up soon, and I finally finished her gift.  She loves the dia de los muertos skeletons and I happened to run across this fabric on buyfabricsonline.com (by accident) and this is when I decided to make a blanket for her!  It has flannel on the back and a very thin layer of batting in between... any other suggestions on how to spice it up?  I was thinking those yarn things through the middle of the blanket... it is for a newborn so I probably shouldn't get too fancy...

It's not perfect I know... this is my first project using a sewing machine in years... and my first blanket... and I didn't use a pattern so it's not exact... but it still looks pretty good i think!

Thanks for looking!

Suz

I've worn mine as a shirt It's cream colored so I have to wear stuff under it, or a cardigan over it... but I think yours looks great without anything... I've even worn shorter nighties alone... in my punk rock days...

6  paper mache purses in Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General by superbelles on: December 19, 2007 08:10:17 PM
This is my first time posting on craftster!  I just had a baby and the DA told me I need a hobby.  Since the holidays are coming up I decided to make some gifts for the 4 nieces.  I was at the craft store and found these paper mache purses with photo inserts.  I decided to paint them and stick some cute little characters on them...

Here is the before photo

and here are the finished projects

Thanks for taking a look!
