1  GLASS CRAFTS / Glass Crafts: Discussion and Questions / Re: question regarding dichroic glass on: October 19, 2008 08:05:51 AM
I would probably try going wider first also but you can also try a thicker piece of glass on top  with a longer hold time in your fuse which usually give you nice depth anyway.

I think I know what you are talking about and if you go to www.etsy.com and change the search category to supplies and type glass circle in the search box I think you will find what you are looking for.
3  GLASS CRAFTS / Glass Crafts: Discussion and Questions / Re: Where's the wine bottles?! AGH! on: October 19, 2008 07:06:12 AM
I have always found if you tell someone you are saving wine bottles that it quickly spirals out of control and you get more bottles than you need.  But the other place I thought of is if your town has a recycling drop off area you could probably snag al ot from there.
4  CRAFTY BUSINESS ADVICE / Selling Crafts on Etsy.com / Re: The (new) Etsy critique thread! on: October 18, 2008 11:41:49 AM

Please let me know if the photos are ok because I have struggled with the photos for a long time.  Also if the description seem sufficient.  Please be honest.

5  GLASS CRAFTS / Glass Crafts: Discussion and Questions / Re: Making a millefiori paperweight with fused glass? on: April 27, 2008 08:58:22 AM
the other major problem that comes to mind is that the COE of most millefiori sold commercially is typically much higher than fusible glass.  Actually I suspect they are higher than what most glassblowers use.  I think glassblowers can get away with this difference in expansion by the very small proportion of incapatable glass compaired to the amount of clear glass.

those ornament shapes are amazing.  I am totally fascinated by them.  They are very inspiring.
7  CRAFTY BUSINESS ADVICE / Get Product and Website Opinions / Re: Pricing opinions on blown glass ornament for first craft fair? on: November 24, 2007 02:49:33 PM
Thanks for the tip.  I just got back from the show today.  I priced individually but I think I like the idea of pricing as a group.  I priced them between $12 to $35.  I did sell the one pictured for $35.  Some people seemed to really look at the prices and compare them to the other ornaments and some people just went straight for the color they liked regardless of price.  Most people at the show were pretty appreciative and understood it was handblown and not an ornament from a large retailer.  I wish it would have had more traffic but sales were ok.  thanks

9  CRAFTY BUSINESS ADVICE / Get Product and Website Opinions / Pricing opinions on blown glass ornament for first craft fair? on: November 19, 2007 09:24:09 AM
I have a pretty good idea of what it cost me to make these ornaments but I just wanted opinions on what you thought a blown glass ornament would sell for at a craft fair.  This is my first one and I do not want to price them to high.  But for this ornament I was thinking $40. It is 4 and 1/2 inches across.

The size really varies on the others from 3 inches up to about 8 inches for the biggest ones.  Is it best to price individually or group by size?  Please let me know what you think?
