i third (or fourth?) the conditioner- esp if you have sensitive skin good to use something you know you wont react to.
905 BATH AND BEAUTY / Bath and Beauty: Discussion and Questions / Re: lightening scars... on: August 28, 2004 11:50:53 PM
i agree that vitamin e helps scars fade (and i seem to have a lot of scars- i scar almost no matter what cause of the type of skin i have, and my dermatologist told me that vitamin e worked, as did my dad, who is a doctor too)

autum- i have a scar on the middle of my forehead too from when iwas little and had the chicken pox, and another scar (well theres others on my face but not from when i was really little) from when i was in the hospital for 2 mnths when i was bron and they wouldnt cut my nails cause i was in icu, so i cut my cheek with my fingernail- its an inch long scar. you cant see any of them anymore.

if this person is a family friend isnt it possible that they might somehow mention the scar to your mom (not on purpose)?
906 KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / Re: Continental or Throw. Which style do u use? on: August 28, 2004 11:33:57 PM
hehe, i actually had to do a "study" on the diff types of knitting versus speed- and the result was that cont. was much faster. some results:

averages for what hand they wrote wiht/dom with and how they knit (or closest to)
right cont right eng left cont left eng
8.566 3.517 0.750 0.750

i got to do i whole buncch of mathmetical stuff (chi squared conversions and chi squared test etc), to find:
 Df= 1
and since we can rej p (dont ask i cant even exp statistcs even after taking the class!) it means that cont knitting is faster Smiley if you really want i suppose i could email you the entire paper i had to write- but statistics is evil Smiley as is eng knitting
907 KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / Re: alternatives to yarn??? on: August 28, 2004 11:27:07 PM
for jeans id def try to cut it cont- or it would b a pain since the jean fabric tends to be heavy.

(this is where size 50 knitting needles would be good!)

ive made bags etc out of striips of silk that i recycled from shirts from a thrift store (bag sales are esp good for this). silk is also great fun to dye and then cut into strips, or shred and blend to spin a yarn.
908 KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / Re: pattern for plain old knit socks on: August 28, 2004 11:15:35 PM
if you look on the wendyknits.net patterns page they have sockin structions that are decent in the left hand column.

books with good patterns:
twisted sisters sock workbook
cool socks warm feet
909 KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / Re: Help! How are these created? on: August 28, 2004 11:11:37 PM
they had a pattern for this in one of the recent interweave knits using tinker toys! (so tempting if i can find mine)

how i would do it:
use a figure 8 cast on (no finishing the bottom!) knit on circulars or dpn. line up the edge of the cast on with the dowels, etce tc etc.
