41  Craft Swaps / ARCHIVE OF SWAPS THAT ARE TOTALLY FINISHED / Re: Another Crafty Detective Swap!! sign up 3-18 to 4-01 send out 5-01 on: April 01, 2009 09:44:42 PM
So much posting makes me forget what I want to comment on!

1. I think when I redo my craft room I may actually get shag carpet. Either in a bright pink or tan (for sand since my craft room is tropical). I'm serious about it too! It's extremely soft on the feet, easy to vacuum up glitter, and it's probably really cheap.

2. I'm actually enjoying the bright orange background because it's making everything else stand out much more. Craftster should think about making a colorful background revamp.

3. One of my favorite parts being in a detective swap is that I copy the participant list and cross people off by what they comment about. It's fun, kinda like anti-stalking. I already have 4 crossed off (including me, my stalkee, my organizer, and someone that commented about something that wouldn't pertain to me). Don't worry, you will pretty much never find out who has your name until you receive. I'm glad that the organizers didn't list who is in which group because then I could have crossed off half of the names.

4. I didn't realize I relied on the avatar pics either until today. I've always wanted to be one of those people that changed my pic all the time but alas, I never have. To my stalker: Be prepared, I might soon. (I doubt it)

What I find extremely funny about today is the fact that maybe a couple of months from now someone is searching through old threads and they see everyone talking about macrame and orange shag carpet. Maybe we should set up some kind of etsy and ebay monitoring program to see if macrame gets a comeback!

Wow! I've been in small swaps of 20 people that took a couple of days to get partners! Kudos to the organizers!

Great idea for a challenge! I'll definitely have to plan something and then gobble up a bunch more of eggs when they go on clearance after Easter!

I'm digging the orange shag carpet! It reminds me of what my house was covered in when the hubby and I first bought it!

I'm feeling good enough to be moving around the house now but both nostrils are still stuffed and I'm currently a mouth breather. For me this is the worst part of having a cold. I'm definitely not crafting anything new yet and I'm trying not to breath when I walk through my dining room. I don't want my germs to get on the projects that are sitting on the table.

All this insight into wist philosophy is interesting. While I would enjoy getting things identical to stuff on my wist, I also see it as giving a good impression of the general style of things I like. I mean, my partner might not be able to make anything exactly like what I've wisted, but you just have to scroll through a few pages and you'll know that anything that's in monochrome and/or red will be well-received, designs incorporating silhouettes will make me happy, etc.

We're the same on wist philosophy. I would love to receive every single thing on my wist but it more just shows my personality. I also use it for what it's technically made for (bookmarks). I have recipes, tutorials, things too expensive for a normal person to buy but are awesome, and frivolous things that once the recession is over I may purchase (cupcake shaped bandaids).

I'm still waiting for a future swap partner who's willing to make me the Hello Kitty shaped bathtub that I have wisted....
49  NEWS AND DISCUSSION ABOUT CRAFTSTER / Latest News / Toyota Ad on: March 31, 2009 09:07:08 AM
I didn't think to take a screen shot even though I had to refresh my page 4 times in order to get the ad off of it. There is a Toyota ad, mostly blue that says "scroll over to ______ more". I don't remember if it says see/hear or whatever. It showed up below the ruler and made it impossible to use any of the links. Under "my craftster" I could only see "My Profile" and the rest was blocked by this ad. I had to refresh just to be able to get to this section.

Jenicat, I know what you mean about feeling greedy!  I hope people don't look at my wist and think, "she wants to have all of that stuff?  cripes!"  Mostly I have a wist to show people what I like.  So, if someone wanted to make me a necklace, they could check out my wist and see examples of like 30 different necklaces, all in styles I think are cool.  Then they have some options on a necklace style to make me.  NOT because I want 30 necklaces, you know?

I know I get discouraged when I get a swap partner that really wants something, like they REALLY want a hat.  But then I look at their wist, and there's ONE hat on there.  If it is a style that I can't make, then I have no idea what sort of hat to make!  That's why I like to give options.

EXACTLY! In the last detective swap I was in, my partner had less than 75 and it was HORRIBLE! Especially if half of the stuff on the wist is something that's not even possible to make.

I laughed so hard when you guys were commenting about my 750+ items, sometimes I'll sit for an hour or more just looking through the "newly wisted" items and clicking away. But for some of you, I looked at your wist and panicked because I could only think of 1 think that I could possibly make for you (going by wist alone).
