402  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / Re: T-shirt to hat/mitten set on: November 19, 2007 08:21:23 PM

Well, I cut out the ribbed fabric on the neck of the shirt, then seam ripped it into a strip. (I left the raw edges on because I wanted them to show) I measured the length on the strip then divided it by six and cut out six trianglish shapes (see the link) to the figured scale. I sewed long edges to long edges and short edges to short edges ( I think back and I could have just made 3 big peices, but I wasn't thinking straight.  Cheesy) then, I left 1 side unsewed (so It stayed flat) and sewed it to the ribbed peice of fabric. then sewed that edge together then the triangly edges all got sewed together. I decided it was to pointy and I sewed a straight line  across the top then flipped it and sewed another straight line in an X shape and trimmed off the extra fabric... and there ya go!

Hope I made myself clear.  Smiley

403  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / T-shirt to hat/mitten set on: November 19, 2007 04:41:11 PM
So I had this T-shirt I totally shrunk in the wash (belly hung out... not cool-nor is it dress code. xD )
Anyway... I had this idea to turn it into a hat and mittens.
I am pretty proud of it.
To make the hat, I used the neck hole as the bottom and just used triangles of fabric for the rest, and so it wouldn't have a funny point, I sewed an X shape at the top.
