601  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General / Re: Pink "Jordy" Bag w/ Embroidered Chicks on: July 18, 2004 08:40:24 AM
Thanks for all the nice words!  I'm actually working on a couple of other projects now & will post them when they're ready.

Oh, by the way, the chicks *are* fuzzy.  They're made of yellow felt.  I just used an iron on transfer pen to put the image on the felt, put wonder under on the back side of the felt, cut it out, and then ironed it on to one of the outside purse pieces. Viola!  Instant cuteness.

I *love* applique.  It's like coloring with fabric.  I then embroider along the edges to give it more security, not to mention the fact that it looks friggin' cute.   Tongue

The image host I signed up with sucks and it says I'm already over my bandwidth limit (even though it's been in use for like 2 hours).  I apologize if you can't see the pictures.  I'm going to try and get a new host soon.

This is my version of the popular "Jordy" bag (http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=7866.0).

I found the pattern for the felt embroidered chicks on Needlecrafter.com and added seed beads for a jazzy effect.

I was originally making the bag for myself, but discovered the bag was a bit small for me.  So, I opted to make it for a friend's niece.  I love the end result and will definitely use this pattern again - perhaps modifying the measurements to make one "adult" sized.

Here are some pics of the finished bag:

I didn't have a kid handy to model the purse, so I decided to volunteer my dog, Ellie:

Thanks to Jordy for a great idea!
