I work at a Humane Society and we had an open house yesterday in hopes that we would get a lot of adoptions. We all decided we would make some stuff for our guests, so i said i would make chocolate cupcakes! my mom has a great cupcake recipe, and i found this buttercream frosting recipe online awhile ago (i completely forget the site though). They're not really anything special, but they were yummy and i was proud.
this is the best picture i have of them, but they were a hit and we had 8 adoptions that day! plus, some people are going to be coming back during the week. it was great, and we're going to be holding open houses more often!
My friends and i decided that we wanted extremely unique costumes this year. We wanted to stand out in school, so we randomly got the idea to be juice boxes. We were all different flavors. I was punch, and the others were grape and apple. My friends made me pretty much paint everything involving detail because they didnt trust themselves. They would only paint the large areas, so they gave me credit for all 3 costumes. It took over 8 hours per costume, and i must say they were worth the effort. I got stopped so many times in school, and a safe trick or treating event the night before, and while i went trick or treating. I'm definitely saving this costume and i will use it again later on. Anyway, here are the pictures!
me and the most awesome gym teacher mr. rose!
the two other girls who were juice boxes.
a close up of mine
i made headbands out of polymer clay that went along with each of our flavors
i also made earrings out of clay and mod podged the picture on
another close up. the one blob of color splash reminds me of the cingular guy.
back of grape and some of my kitty.
me and my friend who went as a bum. i dont know if you can tell but we put the hole openings on our sleeves, and we wrote "insert straw here" in puffy paint. i must say that we had a lot of people jamming our shoulders, and i hear a lot of perverted comments on that. lol
me and my friend who was a duck
another of grape along with the fresh prince of bell-air and a mobster
my one cat is a terror so i thought i would include him
little miss muffet and i
sorry about all of the pictures but i hope you guys enjoyed it! any comments/suggestions are welcome!
Well, i desperately needed a new earring holder that was flat, because my last one didnt fit all of my earrings, but i didnt want to spend $20 on one. Instead, i found some items in my house, and created a new one!
It's made of an old trivial pursuit game that was never played in my house, and i just used a box knife to cut out the shape. I used my dad's wire that he had laying around, but i think its supposed to be used to patch holes in screen doors. Oops, he doesnt need to know that. Anyway, i just painted it in order to remind me of my childhood. I love classic nickelodeon shows, so i used characters from all of my favorites. I'll stop blabbering and i'll get on with the pictures.
the entire thing
i made the center the nickelodeon logo, but its kind of hard to see if its not on a white backround
finally, all of my earrings on there
im happy i finally have a good earring holder, and it was really simple to make. just a board game, hot glue, paints, and wire mesh. if anyone has any comments or questions, they would be greatly appreciated!
Ive been taking Wood Shop for two years now, and this is my last year because they dont offer a Wood Shop 3, which sucks. Well, for our final, he made us do this little jack puzzle, which was somewhat difficult to make because everything had to be perfect in order for the pieces to fit. It was kind of boring after me and my two friends finished it, so i decided to paint mine, but they wouldnt paint theirs because theyre stupid boys. anyway, here are the pictures
the completed puzzle. sorry about the saw dust. i didnt have time to wipe it all off, but you get the idea
the puzzle taken apart, plain colored
the puzzle all painted. i used giraffe, zebra, and cheetah print.
one last view.
i hope you like it. it took about 5 class periods to make. i definitely plan on making some more at home since schools done, and its a great way to try and tests my friends ability to put it together! (its really hard. i was getting confused and i had directions too)
any comments/suggestions are appreciated
and if anyone has any ideas of how i should paint the next puzzles i paint, let me know!
My whole life I've grown up in Galloway, NJ, which is about 10 minutes away from the nearest beach, and about 20 minutes away from four other beaches. I'll always remember going to the beach almost everyday of the summer with my grandparents, so to represent G-way, I of course had to do beach-related things.
Now I know palm trees aren't indigenous to NJ, but when I think of the beach, that's the first thing that comes to mind, so please bear with it. lol.
There's three parts to my entry. The first is a necklace holder i made in wood tech. After i saw this challenge i asked my teacher if i could make this, and he said yes. It doesn't spin, but boy did it take a lot of work to make. I had to first make the surfboard, and sand the edges to give the rounded effect, and then i had to use the lathe to carve the design in the top and bottom pieces. I love using the lathe. The hooks were extremely easy to attach too. I just had to drill a hole and screw them in. It doesn't have a real finish on it yet, just a couple coats of tung oil. I haven't gotten around to applying the finish to make it shiny.
the back (you can kinda see the cabinet i made there too. im working on painting it for my mom)
The next is just a painting thats going to go in my room, which is beach-themed too.
The last is probably my favorite. Its a plaster sculpture of my arm, that's mounted on a simple piece of wood, and painted. I use it as a necklace holder too. My fingers look kinda deformed in it though.
my deformed middle finger. lol.
well, i hope everyone likes it. any comments/questions/suggestions are welcome. and thanks for looking!
i had to do a pre-calc project, and my friends and i were completely lost on what to do. we had to make some type of radian protractor (pretty much a protractor but instead of degrees its measured in radians) and we started talking about the good old nick shows that they never play anymore. well, my friends like to test my crafting abilities, so they decided they wanted me to make all different nicktoons and we would put them all on an island. we didnt start the project until 11 at night the weekend before it was due, so i was getting kind of sleepy and some of them look pretty bad, but our class and teacher loved it, which made it worth while.
anyway, enough of story time and on with the pictures.
the entire thing. theyre on a pi-shaped island, since radians are measured in pi. we used real sand from this old beach lamp we had, but being the idiot i am, i was going to break the lamp with a hammer to get the sand, but then my mom showed me that the top twisted off. she still doesnt let me live my ditzyness down.
otto rocket. i was so tired. he was made around 2am, so he turned out kinda bad.
heifer (my favorite)
any comments/suggestions are appreaciated and thanks for looking!
wallet i saw this wallet at pacsun that was adorable, but i didnt want to pay $25 for a stinking wallet, so i decided to sew it myself. ive never sewn a wallet, so for a first try im very happy. i didnt use any patterns or anything i just kind of winged it all.
the whole thing. its a little wonky but i dont care
the inside. i didnt have vinyl for my license holder, so i used to scrapbook page holders and it works fine for me.
theres two different pouches to hold money in. im not sure why, but thats okay.
my cell phone holder my daddy got me a new cell phone after my old razr practically broke in half, and i was really determined to keep it clean and unscratched, so i had to make a case so it wouldnt get dirty.
a strange view
just a reference
i probably rambled on a bit but i was just happy that i actually accomplished these sewing projects. the wallet took me forever. but im just going to stop talking and yeah. any questions/comments are welcomed.
okay, well after looking at everyone's amazing work on here, i got inspired to start using polymer clay and this is my first piece. i love south park, so i figured, why not turn them into a bracelet. this is also my first time posting anything ive made on here so i hope everyone likes it.
the entire bracelet
dont mind the cat hair and the messed up paint in the last picture. if anyone has any questions about anything, feel free to ask. so i hope everyone likes it.
