1  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / Re: Using different wool for a pattern - how many stitches to cast on? on: October 30, 2011 02:41:02 PM
It is lovely, isn't it?!

The 10mm needles have arrived.  This is third on my to do list, so I must be patient a little longer.  Have a scarf that's not long started to finish first, then I promised the boyfriend a hat, then I'll attempt this scarf!

Thanks people!  I've ordered the 'right' size circular needle for it now, so I hope it doesn't tighten up too much and necessitate a larger size!  Oh well, I'll give it a try once the 4.5mm needle arrives.  Sounds like I'm going to have to buy a bigger needle though - pants!  The knitting items further increase in number and storage capacity!  I really wanted to get started with it ASAP to (as it'll me forever to knit), but looks like I'll need to factor in another delivery wait......

On the website it's made with big chunky wool and 12mm needles.  I've bought wool that I'll use with 4.5mm needles.  I'm a bit of a novice knitter - if with the big chunky wool you need to cast on 220 stitches, how many stitches(ish) would I need to cast on with the skinnier wool?  Huh

Thanks people!  Cheesy
