2  OCCASIONS AND HOLIDAYS / Weddings and Bridal Showers / Bachelorette Party - Wine on: August 25, 2009 08:34:57 AM
Hello All.

I think I've finally recovered from my friends wedding and thought I would share some of the crafting that happened.  What I don't have pictures of is the flower pots we painted as table centerpieces for the bridal shower.  For the bachelorette party we went on a wine tour.  I painted wine glasses for everyone who went, the bridesmaids all had the same design with their name on the base of the glass.  For everyone who wasn't in the bridal party I just did some wine and summer related designs.  And because I love shrinky dink I made some wedding related shrinky dink wine charms.

6  Archive of Past Craftster Challenge Entries / CHALLENGE 30 ENTRIES / Heavy Machinery Needs Lovin Too on: September 05, 2008 08:14:57 PM
I recently learned how to knit and just moved from NY to Melbourne Australia for an internship at a packaging lab.  I'm a packaging science major at Rochester Institute of Technology, there are only a handful of schools that offer packaging science as a major and  every other person that has worked in this particular packaging lab has been an Michigan State University alumni, so the whole lab is filled with green MSU junk.

The lab manager, Rob, also has taken great joy in picking on me for joining a Stitch and  Bitch, "hows your old lady group" " how are the cat ladies" etc.  So when I saw this challenge I thought I needed to find a way to plaster something in the lab with my school colors brown & orange.

So here is my Forklift cozy!
- not only does it bring great warmth and comfort to some heavy machinery
- it provided a huge canvas for orange and brown yarn at to show off my RIT spirit
- and I got to use my knitting skills to make a cozy for Rob's manly forklift
I can't wait to see his face on Monday Smiley

only three poles because the black thing heats up & I don't want to give Rob a safetly excuse for taking my cozy apart!

8  COOKING / Dessert / ARRRGGG Pirate Cake on: April 29, 2008 05:38:20 PM
Pirate cake that I made for the bf's birthday.  For the ship I used 2 - 9" round cake pans, cut them in half stacked them together and laid them cut side facing up, then I took a little bit of the round bottom off so the ship would sit flat.  I covered it with chocolate fudge frosting, used a cake comb so it looked like wood.  Added sails with construction paper and skewers and a Reese's cup crows nest.  Added chocolate coins for booty, malt balls for cannons, and some little plastic pirate dudes.

It was pretty easy and if you google pirate cakes you'll get a bunch of images of similar cakes.

Nice dice!

I wouldn't recommend frosting a frozen cake it will cause the frosting to crack as the cake thaws out.
