1  The Hitchhiker's Guide To The Galaxy - Don't Panic! in Knitting: Completed Projects by summerfun37 on: May 31, 2010 04:20:24 PM
This is my entry for the Novel Knits challenge.
I decided to make my very own Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy!

The big friendly letters are made of felt and keep the guide closed so it doesn't activate in your pocket Smiley

I hand-embroidered an article title and text on the screen...

And used short rows to give it body
Back view:

It's also kind of squishy Cheesy

Thanks for reading! Smiley

Yay! Finished cake!

I cut all the burnt bits off the top, so it looked like this:

And now I have a lovely cake!

Just five hours after I started it. And just in time for my parents getting home.

3  Carrot Cake disaster in Dessert by summerfun37 on: August 14, 2008 08:17:02 AM
I decided to make a carrot cake today as it's the summer holidays and I'm bored. I laid all my ingredients out beforehand like a good little chef, put everything in the dishwasher straight away, and made sure I put the cooking timer on the oven on as soon as the cake went into the oven. I even checked halfway through cooking to make sure it was rising properly. But then I came upstairs and logged on to craftster, and it was only when I smelled the cake (from the other side of the house) that I realised the timer was going off. And had been for half an hour. When I got it out of the oven, it looked like this:

Hardly the golden-brown, beautifully risen cake it had promised to be when I last looked. So, my question is, how burnt is too burnt?
