1  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / Asked to knit for money on: February 04, 2008 09:41:34 AM
Hello,
I have a friend that has asked me to knit this http://www.kimhargreaves.co.uk/acatalog/BETH.html.
She has offered to pay for the kit and pay me to do it. I am NOT interested in doing this for her, but would like a suggestion on how much I should say my time is worth.
I am not very good at estimating how long a project should take. Can anyone guess how many hours this would take?
Thanks!
2  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / Moth on yarn - What to do? on: September 12, 2007 07:34:14 PM
Hello everyone,
I just found a moth crawling on a sweater I have been working on and I am not sure what to do!
I can't see any holes or damage.
I've heard to freeze things that may have moths?
The yarn I am using is 55% Merino wool, 33% Microfibre and 12% Cashmere.
What do I do??? What should I look for??? Am I panicking over nothing???
Please share some advice.
Thanks,
Patrice

4  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / LMKG Chevron Scarf - Help getting started on: June 19, 2007 02:50:43 PM
Hello,
This pattern is quite simple, but I want to make sure I get off to the right start.
On the bottom, is the scarf supposed to curl to the front or back.
The pattern reads;
Cast on 48, Knit 4 rows Reverse st and start pattern on a RS, which is a Purl row. The first row of the pattern is knit sts.
When I look at photos of this scarf this looks wrong?
If anyone has made this scarf and know what I am talking about I would really like some help.
Thanks!
Patrice
5  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / Break or Carry yarn? on: August 06, 2006 08:50:22 AM
Hello,
I would like to make the pattern called "Hallow" on this page http://theknittinggarden.com/ro-magbabies.htm. Should I break the yarn after every colour change or carry them all up the side?
Thanks for your help.
Patrice
6  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / Fixing knit to purl st many rows down? on: May 02, 2005 02:54:31 PM
Hello everyone,
I knit two stitches instead of purling by mistake and would like to know if it can be fixed (or should be fixed) without unraveling all my work.
The mistake is at near the cuff of a sleeve and I have finished the entire sleeve. It really is not in an obvious place and could pass as part of the design.
I know how to fix a knit stitch to a purl stitch, but what I am not sure about is how far down I can go without making a big mess. It is about 100 rows!
I appreciate any advice your have.
Thanks!

Is K2tog tbl and ssk the same stitch?
If not how are they different?
I really appreciate if someone can help me with this.
Thanks!
8  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / Knitting Vs. Crochet: Which would you recommend? on: August 23, 2004 08:06:19 PM
Hi everyone!
Just curious...I am fairly new to knitting and interested in crochet. I was wondering if someone can tell me which is faster knitting or crochet? Also, which uses more yarn?
Thanks!
9  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / Bernat CottonTots? or Suss Cotton? on: June 08, 2004 02:26:26 PM
Hi,
Has anyone ever worked with Bernat CottonTots? or Suss Cotton?
I knit a sweater with Bernat Cotton Tots that is very chunky, 3 1/2 sts per inch, with this yarn doubled.
Anyways, after I washed it, it really started to fuzz away. I am wondering if it will get better if I keep washing it (like new towles?), or if it will just get worse. It does say it is machine washable.
My pattern is from the Suss book "Hollywood Knits". In the pattern they used Suss cotton, which I thought was almost the same, it looks the same and weight and yardage is the same.
Anyone else have any problems with this yarn?
Thank you so much!
10  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / Tank top straps? on: May 02, 2004 08:19:33 PM
Hi,
I am working on a tank top(it is pattern #28 in the latest Vogue magazine) and the straps are made doing an i-cord.
Can I make my straps wider by just doing st stitch instead of an i-cord?
Will it stretch or do anything weird on me?
I would love to hear any suggestions.
Thanks!
