last night i was just browsing craftster feeling totally inspired. and i hadn't sewn in like a month and a half. So, i got to thinking about what i had in my stash, which i coincidentally have this AWESOME hounds tooth thats green and brown, then i dawned on me, i have this Eddie Bauer stretch cable cardigan in the perfect brown. i dissected it and this is what i came up with.
So long story short i have this favorite bag of mine, its brown leather made by sonoma (usually sold at kohls i think), and i decided i would "try" and draft up a similar style bag but with plaid, stretchy dark denim and black lace. this is what i came up with and i am really pleased with it. why is it that i CANNOT follow a pattern, but if i think it up it comes out as good as i could ever hope.
with stuffs in it
Comments and Crit very welcome (if you see something that needs improvement pllllzzzz say it, even if it seems mean, i'm really trying to get better and i need all the help i can get.)
This is probably only the second legit usable thing i've sewn but i really loved the fabric and have been wanting to do this tutorial http://darnkat.wordpress.com/quilted-fabric-wallet-tutorial/ it was really easy to follow even for a newb like me. and turned out really well even though it looks a little (or a lot) more wonky then the actual pattern. i'd like to make another fixing some things that i didn't quite do right. but overall i'm preeeetty impressed with myself.
comments and crit welcome <3
close up of fabric
another close up. i'm so in love with this fabric. <3
So i happened to have some random scraps in my stash and had bought some halloween fabric and it matched pretty well so i whipped another one up.
but nevertheless came out pretty cute i think. i decorated my fireplace mantel which is HUGE. like the depth of the top of the thing is as big as my whole arm basically. I did harvesty instead of Halloweeny because you can leave it up longer AAANNND i only spent $11.56
So i bought i new camera this week and much to my dismay it is too big for a small camera case and too small for a large case. so i thought i might make my own. i googled it and came across this tutorial. although mine isn't quite as cute...or quite as detailed. it still serves its purpose. i'm a newbie at sewing so i thought it turned out pretty well.
So i first saw this done by lzepeda (http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=258974.msg2897736#msg2897736), i thought it was a great idea so i made one for my pups, because i love them . So i went to michaels today, after going to 2 thrift stores and not really finding a box i really liked, and bought one for 5 bucks. also bought a few colors of paint (i had some at home also), some new brushes and 2 sheets of scrapbooking paper. total cost $14.36. i love it, its nice to have a cute place to put thier toys.
And an action shot of my sweet little clutch, even though he isn't really little anymore
So i got a bright idea to redo my ipod case, which has seen better days. i work in aircraft so its got some battle scars. It was just your average clip style ipod case, pink leather, super scuffed, pretty disgusting looking. and the metal in the clip part ripped the leather so it rubs your leg and hurts like hell. so i had to redo that....so i got a litttle crazy with the mod podge. and this is what i got... i love it.
