*jaw drop* Those are exquisite. Anything that isn't (basically) a square is still beyond me, but I think this will be one of my first complicated projects. You're right about the light on dark version. Of the two it really emphasizes the pattern.

Thanks! And yeah, light on dark really makes it pop Cheesy

Thanks everybody! Cheesy Winter is definitely better with great mittens!

When you get into the rhythm of it they're quite a quick knit, quicker than socks with color-work anyway. I can make a pair in a weekend Grin
24  KNITTING / Knitting: Completed Projects / Selbu mittens with link to pattern! on: July 21, 2010 06:28:34 AM
So, a while ago I transformed my granny's old selbusock-pattern to a mitten pattern.

I'm in love with how the mittens look.

And here is the same but with opposite coloring.

I actually think I like white on black the most. It looks cleaner.

I've knitted a lot of these in different colors. It looks great in blue and white, or purple and gray. Unfortunately I never hang on long enough to the mittens to take a photos - they're more popular than warm cookies  Cheesy

The pattern is free and available on ravelry.

Adorable! Is this a "Delicous" pattern? If so, what weight yarn and hook did you use and how big is it?

It is the Delicious pattern!

I used DK with a 3.00 mm hook. It turned out bigger than I expected. I dont really have the measurements but I have a picture of holding the head in my hand, so you can get a feel of the size.

The pattern was for the most part really well written but I had some problems with where, exactly, to attach everything, especially all the small things on the head. But the result is really cool Cheesy

Im so happy you like it! The eyes took me ages to sew together, it just kept looking wonky. But it was definitely worth the time. It was hard to send it away Cheesy

Wee, Ive sent!

But since international mail sucks it might not arrive for a while. The girl at the post office said it should take anywhere between one to three weeks to go from Norway to Australia Sad
