man, traffic was hellish (even on the bus) because of the green festival, the Dalai Lama, and the sports events.

Plus, the SUN WAS OUT yesterday.  (Z.O.M.G.!!!!)

I sent in my PM to join!  Yay!

The beach near me is called Golden Gardens.  It's on Puget Sound, just north of Seattle.  From my little fisherman's cottage up on the bluffs I can hear the sealions barking, the ships tootling for the drawbridge or locks, foghorns out on the Sound, lines on the masts in the marina ... I love it.  It's why I stay in a house that is less than 400 sq ft.  Smiley    I love going down to the beach and watching the ferries go by at night, and hearing seabirds call out at in the evening during migration times.  There are ospreys, eagles, owls and other birds of prey nearby, lots of gulls, lots of shorebirds peeping away, and even a mournful train going by every once in a while.  But it is NOT a warm place to live, for most of the year.  Think cold wet winds from September to June. Smiley

Here's looking north up the beach at sunset:

And looking west to the islands and then the Olympic Mountains:

And the gang cooking dinner over the fire, with the bluffs in the background:

Darn it, now I want s'mores and salmon cooked over a campfire!!    Cheesy

My jar decoration is *very* simple because of my earlier disasterous attempt.

As in, construction paper and scotch tape simple.

I should NOT be trusted with a hot glue gun ever again.  Smiley

I still feel like my jar is too small, even though I measured and it's 40 ounces, 5 cups worth. I told my partner but haven't heard back about what her jar is like ... is that about what other 30 ounce people are doing?  (I couldn't find 30 ounce, 40 was the closest I could find that was 30 or more).   I just don't want to disappoint my swap partner!

MissT!  You poor thing.  Here's a cartoon-size beefsteak to put on your eye.  Smiley

And I think in a couple of days, you'll have a shiner that will make everyone say WOW.  Just you wait fer those bruises to mature!   Wink

Me too - 75% random, 15% partner, 10% "what was I thinking oh well I hope she can use it!"   Smiley

Hee.

After having destroyed one plastic jar in an ill-thought-out decorating attempt, I'm going very very very simple with the decoration.  Very simple. I may just wave a paintbrush in its general direction, instead of actually touching it again.  (Reminds me of Hawkeye and his very very dry martini recipe from M*A*S*H - "You pour six jiggers of gin, and you drink it while staring at a picture of Lorenzo Schwartz, the inventor of vermouth.")
