With a cute furball like that, how could you help but craft for him?  Smiley Smiley

I like how this one project's color is now infiltrating elsewhere in the house!
2182  Archive of Past Craftster Challenge Entries / CHALLENGE 26 ENTRIES / Tea Party Hat on: April 02, 2008 02:24:45 PM
My Dollar Store Challenge entry is: A Tea Party Hat.

Complete with .... a tea party!

Materials were randomly selected by myself and my pal, no plan in mind when purchased.  Though um, I guess we were in a pink mood that day.  My house has never HAD so much pink in it!

-pink plastic basket
-pink shoelaces
-pink scarf
-toy tea set (a few pieces were broken, so was on sale - woo!)
-food-shaped erasers
-insect erasers
-(pictured: flower barrette, swapped out for pink curly ribbon)
-glue to hold everything on (already had at home)
Total cost: $9.84

I forgot to take in-progress pictures, oops!

Finished:

Overhead view: (note that as you would wear this to an outdoor tea party, there are the typical outdoor guests: bees and bugs!)

And yes, there's real sugar, tea, and cream in those containers!

The tea cakes look sooooo good!

Modeling the Tea Party Hat:

More Modeling:

A view of the back of the hat:

Everything will stay put, even if the hat does fall off your head (action shot!):

And of course, one has to have a guest over for tea.  The Resident Cat came by for a taste:

I had a lot of fun making this, and my neighbor spotted me prancing around in my living room with this hat on so I've just solidified that "wacko but nice" reputation again.  Smiley   Hee.

Fun fun fun!

I freely confess that I just wrapped some fabric around the cat and said "hmmm, quilted or non-?".

The cat is scared.  Very scared.

Don't forget a cozy for the ironing board!  Smiley

MissT, you have created a monster!  I'm looking around my living room thinking "hmm, I could cozy that, I could cozy that, I could cozy THAT..."

The cat is afraid to sit still for too long, as I start to measure her ...

My partner's likes allowed me to feel no guilt after going nutso at a local whimsical store.  Smiley

Hee hee hee.

Yay!  I had fun today picking out some special stuff for my partner, but I already had some things waiting too.  Hee hee hee.  Now I just have to find a suitable container.

Yay!

And I for one will be one of the later senders, too.    Wink

My ideas *always* take longer than I think they will.

Yeah, I'm lucky to live where I do ... I can only rent, though, I'll never be able to actually BUY here.  Foo.

Oh, and I think the huge crowds were because people were getting out of the house while it was sunny and NOT looking like it did last night:

My poor baby!  All snowy!!  It was quite a drive home after the ferry ride, last night, in the snowstorms.  So even though the cat and I would rather have slept in, I just HAD to get up and go to the market while it was sunny and DRY.   Though it clouded up and started snow/raining again after I got home!

Whew, what a market day!

My whole set of pictures is at:

But I have to share a couple here.

First, I WANT I WANT I WANT:

Oh oh oh OH I wanted to buy the tomato or the carrot.  But it just doesn't fit in the unemployment budget.  Smiley  Her esty page is:

OH.  Gonna wist/fave that immediately.  Smiley

Looking down one side of the market:

And some baked goodies from the market: mini apple pie, espresso brownie, sourdough bread, and apple sticks.

So, lots more pics at my flickr site.  I'm off to eat my mini apple pie now. Smiley
