1  CRAFTY BUSINESS ADVICE / Crafty Business Discussion / Christmas Supplies! Ho Ho Ho on: November 13, 2009 09:10:24 AM
Hi everyone,

I usually make a couple live christmas wreaths every year for certain members of the family and they always tell me I should start selling them. Well, this year we are a little low on cash so I think I'm going to take them up on that offer!

I usually get the decorations for the wreaths (bows, small ornaments, sometimes lights, etc) at Michaels since I'm only buying a few. I was wondering if any of you knew where I might be able to buy these items in bulk to cut down on costs.

Thanks so much!

2  OCCASIONS AND HOLIDAYS / Winter Holidays / REMOVING PERMANENT MARKER? on: November 12, 2008 08:53:36 AM
Hello everyone!

Quick question:

I am planning on getting holiday themed mugs from my local thrift store to fill with home made goodies for my coworkers, only problem is the thrift store always writes the price in permanent marker on the bottom of the ceramic mug. Does anyone know how to remove this? I have tried to Google it, but no luck so far.

Thanks!
3  BATH AND BEAUTY / Bath and Beauty: Discussion and Questions / MP Soaps...How much base do I need? on: October 22, 2008 08:45:23 AM
Hello everyone!

This coming christmas I plan on making spa kits for my boyfriends family instead of buying individual gifts since 1. i am a broke college student and 2. there are 9 women in his family alone!

I am going to try my hand at some MP soaps. I was wondering though, If I were to make 2 bars for each person (18 bars total) how many lbs of base would I need, and where do you recommend I get it from?

Thanks so  much!
4  HOME SWEET HOME / Crafty Housewares: Discussion and Questions / Chalk Board Paint on Glass? on: August 25, 2008 07:57:32 AM
Hello everyone!

I am trying to make a memo/chalk board for my new kitchen. The idea is for it to be half wine corks (to tack up important papers) and half chalk board (to write down things we are running low on in the house).

For the chalk board part I was attempting to spray a piece of glass (from an old picture frame) with chalk board paint because it seemed to be the smoothest surface I had laying around. The can of paint says I can use it on any surface (glass included) but I'm a little worried the chalk will sort of scrape off the paint. Has anyone ever tried this and been successful? If not, what material is best for this paint?

   Thanks in advance!!!!!!!  Wink
5  POTTERY, CERAMICS, POLYMER CLAY / Polymer Clay: Discussion and Questions / Why is it so HARD?!? on: May 16, 2008 08:14:52 PM
Hello guys!

I have never worked with any form of clay (aside from playdough!) so bear with me, but after seeing all of the AMAZING things you guys do here on Craftster, I just had to give it a try. I recently picked up some FIMO Soft in Glitter White and I have a mold I was planning on using.

I took it out of the package and I find that the clay is REALLY hard. I can barely even mold it.  Cry

Is there something I'm supposed to do to the clay first, instead of mold it with my hands?  Huh Maybe its dumb, maybe its not.. but my hands sure do hurt! OUCH!

Thanks so much!!!!!
6  SEWING IN GENERAL / Sewing Machines: Discussion and Questions / 1st Time Using Sewing Machine! PLEASE HELP! on: January 24, 2008 06:51:20 AM
Hello everyone!

Well, I have been lurking this website and admiring everyones beautiful creations for a while. Although I have never sewn before, some things I see I think "I bet I can do that!". So, I finally put myself to the test and bought a sewing machine the other day. Its a Euro-Pro Shark (Model 316 I think). While it may not be the best machine, I am a beginner and it was the cheapest. Smiley

Well, the manual is pretty much useless and I cant even get it going. I am having a real problem with figuring out how to thread the bobbin. If anyone can help, or knows a website that can help please let me know.

I am so eager to get this sewing machine figured out and get to craftin!

Thanks guys and keep up the AWESOME work!!! Smiley
7  HOME SWEET HOME / Crafty Housewares: Discussion and Questions / Perler/Fuse/Hama Beads- Pegboard Help on: November 16, 2007 12:56:34 PM
hello everyone Smiley

Long time lurker, but Im trying to whip up a few projects to post. I went this afternoon and purchased a perler bead kit. It comes with a couple small pegboards, but they are not big enough for what I intend to do.

Does anyone know where I can get a bigger pegboard? Or a way I can make my own? Huh

keep up the good work guys! You are some crafty people I must say! Grin
