Grin GrinHi All! Just poking in to say Forest Wilder DiCarlo was born on the 21st! 8lbs 7 oz....and a real doll! Can't say I'll be crafting too too soon but I will be back when I can. In the meantime I'll just be lurking around. Smiley Smiley Roll Eyes Roll Eyes

ok, here are pics of the stuff I sent chicken since she has no internet access right now, poor dear Sad

this is the large and the one I had the hardest time parting with, a painting.  The color is off in the picture, the purple looking splotches are actually a bright pink color....chicken likes pink/orange/yellow together:

some stuffies to hang on a baby mobile (don't have pictures of the mobile assembled, sorry)

a baby rattle:

a diaper bag i appliqued onto:

a onesie with a teddy bear skull:

and an incense burner and a little sticker:

I hope the baby isn't scared by any of the items, lol.  I tried to make them cute but still skully Smiley

I got my package today!  So much awesome stuff Rubenette!!  Rubenette really went above and beyond the scope of this project.  In addition to the awesome skull items, she sent a bunch of baby items as well. (37 weeks pregnant now).  Cool

Just wanted to let you all know, we are moving TODAY to a new place and will be without internet access for two weeks.  As soon as we're reconnected, I will upload some pictures right away.

Thanks again Rubenette, your items are awesome!

See you all in two weeks.

Wellll....that's no fun. Rubenette, do you have pics you can share so we don't have to wait two weeks?Huh

I'm glad you liked everything chicken! Smiley  I did take pics before I sent so I will try to upload those tonight.  No internet for two weeks <shiver> that's my worst nightmare, lol.

OMG I LOOOOOOOOVE that pink fleece, did you get that online somewhere?  Rainbows + pink + skulls + hearts = most awesome fabric ever!!!

And that cape is amazing.....how did you do that?  It looks knit but like the skull and wings were applied after somehow, really cool Smiley

I got my package and I am so excited!!!!  I just LOVE the items my partner came up with!  She figured me out to a T Smiley

The large item is a cool painted, velvet lined box:

Of course it had lots of goodies inside! Smiley

I am so so so so in love with this little guy.....he makes me squee with joy, hehe!  He has a ring on the back for hanging, I think I might wear him as a necklace or maybe a pin!

Then they are two adorable hand sewn magnets, the stitching is amazing, I am in awe of chicken's skill!

Finally some yummy mints and a skelly cutout Smiley

Thank you so much chicken44, I absolutely love it!!!!  Smiley  Your package should be going out Tuesday assuming no disaster strikes this weekend, lol.
7  Craft Swaps / ARCHIVE OF SWAPS THAT ARE TOTALLY FINISHED / Re: THE GREAT SKULL SWAP- CLOSED sendout 01/25/08 on: January 16, 2008 10:13:36 AM
I started feeling a bug last Friday and have just now rejoined the living today.....ugh.  Didn't do any crafting or much of anything besides lay in bed and drink oj, lol.  I'm glad I already have 4 items done and just 2 to go because it's like I lost a week, eep.  I got some new ideas for the last 2 items though, yay!  Will check the mail today, I'm sure the package is here, yippee Smiley
8  CROCHET / Crochet: Discussion and Questions / Re: can't figure this out on: January 11, 2008 10:33:22 AM
Most of the time that is normal from what I've seen.  Typically if you are making a skull cap type of hat it will start with a flat circle to just under the diameter of your head and then the increases stop so it starts making a tube for the remainder of the hat.  If there were not so many increases it would end up a big cone sort of like a santa hat, and not lay flat to your head.  It may seem weird at first but more than likely you just need to keep going and it will work itself out.
9  CROCHET / Crochet: Discussion and Questions / Re: PLEASE HELP!!! .......turning at the end of a row on: January 11, 2008 10:14:09 AM
can you take a picture of the "bumps" to show us what you mean?  It's hard to say if what you are seeing is abnormal or not.  The edges of most crochet is a bit bumpy in my opinion.....it never works out to be a perfectly straight line no matter how many or where you chain.  Especially if you are increasing or decreasing at the beginning or end of rows, it can look downright jagged.  That's why many patterns have "trim" where you work a row along the rough edges (perpendicular to your other rows) to give them a nice smooth braided look.  It may help to work a pattern you have a good picture of the final product for and see if yours looks like theirs.  Good luck!
10  CROCHET / Crochet: Discussion and Questions / Re: Be Easy Hip Hat on: January 11, 2008 09:50:31 AM
A CL is a cluster.  You can find instructions for working it here:

http://www.crochetcabana.com/crochet_dictionary.htm

Generally if I find a symbol I don't know the meaning of I go to yahoo and type in something like "how to crochet <symbol>".  For example in this case I typed how to crochet cl and got a bunch of sites telling me how to do it.  Good luck with the hat!
