11  NEEDLEWORK / Needlework: Completed Projects / damask napkins embroidered! on: February 18, 2008 08:25:57 PM
One of my close friends is getting married at the end of next month, shehas been dating her fiance for nearly 4 years, and we all were close friends in high school. She is not a traditional kind of girl, she likes to write stories and is exceptional at singing and acting. ever since i have known her, she has always drawn this star emblem with arrows pointing towards the center, she even got it tattooed on her back. so when it came to finding a good present for her 'kitchen tea' i chose to buy her some napkins and embroider her symbol on them.

all in all there are six napkins. i will be sending them off in a package to her as well as this item

hope she likes them!
12  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General / liitle felt wallet thingy! on: February 18, 2008 07:33:15 PM
a few weeks ago, one of my friends let me borrow the last harry potter book because i hadnt read it yet, and she said i had to *sigh* it was so so good! anyway, i finished it in record time and have been hanging onto it for a really long time. so as a thank you for letting me borrow it for so long i made her a little felt purse/pocket thing. its big enough to fit a DS lite, but that wasnt its original purpose.

i used a vintage military button i found in my stash (and i want to make a copy of it in resin one day) as well as using some red ribbon to tie it up. i embroidered her own symbol that she loves to draw on it, as well as her name.

the inside is lined with one of the millions of vintage floral fabrics my grandma gave me from when she used to own an curtain and cushion making shop back in the 50s

anyway, i am very proud of this, as its all hand sewn (i dont own a sewing machine yet  Cry )
tell me what you think. i am very proud of it personally!
13  BATH AND BEAUTY / Bath and Beauty: Completed Projects / green wool+ elastic= new zombie dread falls! on: February 18, 2008 06:47:30 PM
well after viewing all of the lovely tutorials on how to make dread falls from using wool (eg: http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=149453.0 )
i decided to try and make my own!
i couldnt find colinette point five in the craft stores around town, but i did manage to find something similar at spotlight called sorbet melange... or something.
any way onto the pics!

here they are out.  as you can see, i had to use a head band to tie them to instead of the clips suggested by rock _goddess because i could not find the clips needed.

action mirror shot

and a myspace type side shot!(with flash so it hides my freckles  Grin)

anyway, comments and critique are always welcome, and any advice as to how to fill out the back a bit more would be good! Smiley

16  CITY GUIDES FOR CRAFTSTERS / AUSTRALIA / freezer paper! it has been found at last! on: November 30, 2007 07:22:30 PM
I dont know about anyone else but it has been impossible for me to find freezer paper anywhere!
However, When i was doing my weekly spotlight run down here in Bendigo, i found purely by accident, freezer paper! the girl said that i was the first person to buy some as they just got it in! i felt so proud at that moment. Spotlight are selling it at $1.50 a meter, but i think you can buy the whole box if you wanted to.

I dont know whether this is a country wide thing or not but yay! all those stenciling projects that have been on the back burner can now be brought to light!
