1  CITY GUIDES FOR CRAFTSTERS / ASIA / Re: China? on: October 09, 2009 03:58:19 AM
...also Xi'an has the 'Muslim quarter' which has a lot of interesting and beautiful textile... i have only been there once, so i am not sure if this is what you have already mentioned?

I will be returning to China next year and it will be very handy to know where these things are, though i will be in Shandong and not in Shan'xi!

good advice!

I am going back to china next year to teach for another year.

These textiles are beautiful! Schnerby, i would love to see your examples as well if you do start up a flickr collection!

Love it!
Did  you paint the background?

yes, the background is first painted, then buttons stuck over it- it makes the lines nice and crisp!
Wow!  That is really colorful. How long did it taketo complete?

ermmm about a month or so i think!
I wanna come over and play in your buttons! Pretty please? Buttons are so fun! I have always loved them ever since I was a little kid!

ok!

Love it! Am so jealous that there were enough buttons to cover the suitcase and then to *fill* it! My button collection is tiny in comparison. How did she end up with so many buttons in the first place!?

well i used to buy her some buttons when we were in high school, and i guess if i did, then many others did... buttons are known to be her "thing"
she just has a mega mega collection...

As soon as i saw this challenge i knew it was meant for her, she has the biggest button collection i have EVER seen! i must say it did make a big dint in her collection thats for sure!
 now, on to the pictures!

and with the left over buttons...

I think this may be the first time i have entered a craft challenge properly Smiley

7  MORE ART, LESS CRAFT / More Art, Less Craft: Completed Works / Re: So I have a sketch book...what goes inside now?(PIC HEAVY) on: March 16, 2009 04:59:00 AM
i think a bit of premeditated mess with strange and unlikely materials is a good way of A: relieving stress, and B: getting in the mood for some more serious crafting. She said it was a sketch book from a store- on sale- so there is no need to be rude about another persons expression of creativity.
