1  COOKING / Dessert / Pirate birthday cake =) on: November 13, 2011 01:33:26 PM

My nephew was 4 this weekend, and he wanted a pirate birthday party. To help out I made the cake, a pirate ship of course Smiley

It's a dence chocolate cake (to make construction easy) frosted with chocolate frosting, and the sea is jelly with foodcolouring and gummy crocodiles in it Smiley

2  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / New Swap Theme Ideas / Jamie Oliver Pass It On swap on: February 10, 2009 12:01:15 PM
How about a jamie inspired swap? He's been "passing on" the art of cooking in rotherham, UK, and I think it could be great fun. The idea is you pass on a recipy to 2 others, and they pass it on to 2 and so on.. could go as far as people want  Smiley

I think the art of cooking and eating healthy is so important. The fast food/ready made/jars are taking over, and we can't let it happen!
3  COOKING / Dessert / Birthday cake :D on: January 11, 2009 04:29:30 AM
It was my bfs birthday yesterday (26! yay! Cheesy), and he wanted what we call a marzipan cake. It's kind of a norwegian tradition.
It's a sponge cake (pretty tasteless in it self) in 3 layers with fruit, whipped cream, and custard inside, and a layer of marzipan over the cake.

I made his cake with frozen raspberries in the whipped cream, chocolate mousse, and frozen raspberries between each layer Smiley Then i painted the marzipan with gel food colouring and pearl dust.. it came out pretty girly, but he liked it anyway.. like he said.. it's cake! Cheesy:D

5  HOME SWEET HOME / Interior Decorating: Completed Projects / The closest i'll get to a craftroom for a loong time =) on: March 10, 2008 05:46:25 AM
I dunno if im posting this in the right place, i just wanted to show off my corner.. my craft "room" Smiley We don't have alot of space, we basically live our lives in the livingroom. Meals, tv, crafts, guests, reading.. pretty much everything Smiley We each claimed a corner and a sofa when we moved in and I have made mine up just the way I want it... Cheesy Cheesy
I just love curling up in my corner with my crochet hooks and knittingneedles Wink

My comfy sofa, my laptop, my stash(both baskets full of yarn) my ipod, my books and my cds Cheesy doesnt get any better than this.

Closeup Smiley have one tin with knitting needles and one with crochet hooks. Originally there were whiskey bottles in the tins. I think they work better where they are now Wink
6  COOKING / Recipes and Cooking Tips / Italian Pizza and bread on: March 06, 2008 07:42:47 AM
Ok, so my bf and I have been living real healthy lately, trying to change lifestyle without "suffering" or -2going without".. so I make alot of things from scratch.

Last night i decided I wanted to make pizzas, so i went for the italian type.

I used a finished bread mix that is actually for making chiabattas -- italian bread that has a really nice consistency.

I made the sauce out of crushed tomatoes, basil, garlic, pepper and a tiny bit of sugar and salt, like, just for taste.

I pre-baked the crusts so they just begin to bake, and when they were still real hot i put the sauce on so it kinda cooked on the bread, brings out loads of flavour. Then i put shredded mozzarella on, i like using mozzarella cause u dont need to use alot and it tastes real good. Around here, loads of ppl use swiss-like cheese, and its real popular to really pile it on. like.. 300 grams for one pizza:o and they use like.. ground beef cooked with tomatoes and just put on everything they can find. huuuge pizzas. Blarg.

anyways, I then covered one with pepperoni(i know, not good for u, but hell, i needed it Wink ) pineapple, red onion, and mushrooms, and i realized that there was cheddar in the mozzarrella, and the other pizza was with mushroom, red onion, cured ham(like parma ham, really) and a little parmesan cheese.

They turned out real good, and we didnt feel all stuffed and icky after eating them Cheesy

ham..

Pepperoni in the oven

i had so much left over that i made a loaf of bread, almost split down the middle with the rest of the sauce and chopped toppings in the middle. Was great.
7  CROCHET / Crochet: Completed Projects / dragon jacket ;D on: November 21, 2007 05:48:08 AM
Jacket for my newborn nephew Smiley
He wont be able to wear it for a few years, it came out way bigger than i planned. I had no pattern or anything, it just sorta came out of nowhere.. Its not perfect, but im pretty pleased with it Smiley
Thought the crochetpattern kinda reminds me of dragonscales, so thats cool Smiley

The buttons are polymer clay, the rest is pure wool..

STill wondering if i should close off the bottom of it so he can use it as a bag in his pram, and if i should add a tail. What do you think?
