clever!

I just cut fabric that I already had - so I'm not sure how much I started with.  There were some comments on the Facebook page about people feeling that the fabric amounts were generous.  I didn't think about there being more to cut later though...

I hope this isn't a spoiler - I haven't started sewing yet, but I didn't take a photo of my fabric in it's uncut state.  I decided to go with some hand-me-down's from my grandma's stash (is it still a stash if it takes up half the house, or is there another designation?)  Anyway, I have to stay out of the fabric store and thought it would be interesting to use these more traditional prints.

This thread showed up on the front page today and caught my eye.  I've been intending to start making more time for crafting and figured this would be a good motivator.  Thanks for sharing the link.  I guess I'm a little late, but I'm looking forward to getting started.

WOW!  Good luck in the contest.  That is a big project to take on for a new knitter.  I like the contrast of your joining stitches.  At first I thought they looked kind of unraveled, but then I clicked on your blog and saw that it is fur yarn.  What a nice and fun touch!

My idea for pants would be a modified pair of riding breeches.  I'm not too familiar with the steampunk culture, so I'm not sure it would be "authentic".  (Although my guess is that improvisation is a big part of the look).

It's beautiful!  I can sympathize with photos not being the quality you want them, but I think in the full length pictures here, the graininess kind of adds to the feel.
And I love the idea of wearing pants under a skirt!  Nice work!

I love the prints you chose.  They look both modern and vintage at the same time. 
There is nothing better than curling up in a made-with-love quilt when you're not feeling great. 

Your story about making the quilt speaks volumes.  It sounds like you captured the very raw feeling of finding out about your Aunt's cancer by ripping the pieces and hand stitching.  Thanks for sharing and best of luck to your whole family.
