1  FIBER ARTS / Felting: Completed Projects / Re: Let's talk balls on: February 17, 2012 02:16:24 AM
How did you make them? I'd love to make some too, but I'm in France for the next year and all my fiber is at home Sad I'm sure I could find wool here somewhere though. Anyone know the french word for wool?

I'm working on selling 2 of my wheels right now. Considering selling the 3rd. So no spinning.

Do you happen to have a higher quality picture? I would love to have it as a desktop background, it's just so beautiful.

That's the one Belladune. There are a few others that have the same thing in knit and crochet patterns, but that's the first on off the top of my head.

I like the idea of everybody making the same thing, but I don't like knitting socks, I don't really need any more shawls, and I don't really have any ideas as to what that something should be. I'm also kind of intrigued by the thought of us all making something from the same pattern (especially something like Citron which has both knit and crochet patterns for the same thing), that way we're really judging on dyeing and spinning more than on pattern choice.
6  FIBER ARTS / Felting: Discussion and Questions / Re: Ok, so I'll felt it... on: October 29, 2011 02:34:18 PM
That's really helpful! Thanks! So would you recommend making a bunch of small(er) pieces of felt and then sewing them together rather than trying to make one huge piece of felt? Would it be a good blanket? or too stiff?
7  FIBER ARTS / Felting: Discussion and Questions / Ok, so I'll felt it... on: October 28, 2011 04:53:34 PM
So I have this beautiful alpaca fleece. It's a grey, chocolate brown, black fleece and it's really beautiful. Unfortunately it's not very soft, and it refuses to become yarn for me. I'm done fighting it, and so I'm going to felt it. I want to felt it maybe into a rug? a blanket? Something. I've got A LOT of it, and I just want to use it up and be done with it. I've never successfully felted something from the fiber stage (the only felting success I've had was with a spun and crocheted BFL).  Suggestions? Methods? Tips? Links? Anything?

I'm confused, when do I find out who my partner is? the 17th?

I went through the FAQ and It mostly answered my questions. I see that there would be an option for handdyed roving, so yeah, I'll go ahead and get my questionnaire filled out.
